I got my first Ranger when I was 23. No A/C, no power windows, no power locks, if it was cold and I needed to start my truck I had to walk out and start it. Look at me, I am now 51, somehow I survived the experience! I will survive just fine not paying for any kind of subscription to remote start my truck! (Not saying I won't miss it, but I sure ain't gonna pay more for the privilege!!)

"Toyota Jeff" looks like a real BOZO on the video.
It also looks like he is being intentionally deceptive.
You'd need a taser, not a keyfob, to get that kind of reaction outta me! :giggle:

BAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! YES! Toyota FTW on how to F-Over the literally most dedicated customer base in the world. T-Boyz make J-Boyz look rational. At least Jeep fans usually only get a Wrangler but them T-Boyz love their trucks so much they make the wife drive a Toyota Sienna and kids get a WETF they sell entry level. HA HA HA HA! Yeah Baby! Drink That KoolAide! It would only taste better if Jim Jones himself was serving it up.

You watch. All the Toyota fan boys will carry on about how great the subscription is.
I wish that was funny but it's not. it's just sad

Bw Ha Ha. Can wait to see Toyota try that shit in Australia, even the most dyed in the wool Toyota fanboyz who still happily pay a premium for a 30 year old Toyota (Landcruiser) design, wouldn't stand for that here. Not that we really need remote start anyway, most of the country apart from Tasmania sits in the warm temperate, to tropics. When Adobe pulled that stunt with Photoshop I just moved to GIMP and Darktable, if Microsoft try it with windows I'll just move permanently to Linux, I already use it for pretty much everything other than gaming anyway, and Linux gaming gets better everyday. I truly hate these attempts by multinational companies to try and "own" us.

I can't speak for others, but if I feel I'm being taken for a ride, I don't hop in! And, taking cheap shots at your data base, just means hackers will circumvent the attempted takeover.

Oh! One more thing. I've owned three vehicles with remote start. In total, I think I've used the feature 4 maybe 5 times. Now if they made it so the electric seats come on too, I might be a bit more interested!

I'd charge $19.99 service fee each time to allow the gas cap to be opened.
...
Fuel is door locked unless opened by the app so that you can be billed properly.

I can see a future "Environmental Impact Fee" for internal combustion engines every time you open the fuel filler.

Gas taxes provide tons of $$$$ to governments and they'll have to recoup that somewhere.

Road use taxes won't get it as many are driving much less, so it's a great opportunity to punish those who continue to destroy the planet by not driving a vehicle that runs on totally clean energy apparently produced by magic.

Oh, and a LOT of $$$$ will need to be invested in the infrastructure to distribute the required magic without browning out whole areas.

When the temperature is below ~40 and you remote start your Ranger the drivers heated seat does come on. My wife's Jeep powers on both seats when the temp is below ~40. Her 14 Dodge Dart did too. Having the heated seats power on with a remote start when it is cold is a pretty standard feature.

When I remote start, my passenger seat heater comes on whenever the driver seat does though it doesn't light up in the climate controls.

I noticed it when I put something in the passenger seat before getting in the truck. The seat was warm.

Now I realize it does it every time but won't stay on if nobody gets in the passenger seat.

Never noticed that, I was just going by the indicator lights on the switch.

That's what I thought too until I happened to feel the passenger seat.

Check yours. It likely is also warming up.
