I am going through the same. Parts are hard to get. And having to deal with insurance company. This particular one a hassle. Just be on top of it lots of phone calls for me unfortunately. I bought my 2020 in january fender bender in july. Still not fixed but drivable. I wish i could tell you more. Car rental?? For how how long, insurance will pro ably fight that too. Everyone is behind on parts labor everything. Good luck, we can start a wounded ranger support group
I’m surprised you failed to mention your bad experience insurance company.

Update: It’s totaled.

According to the claims adjuster, a preliminary estimate of $20k from the body shop, combined with a high salvage value led them to write it off.

I’m now waiting to see what they offer me…
I once had a near new car totaled. Could not buy a replacement with what they gave me since the car was so new that there were no used ones on the market. It was a new generation.

No doubt you're going to have to really fight to get an acceptable payment for it given this current market.

No way that’s $20k. Your shops so far behind they just didn’t want to fix it. It’s pretty easy for a shop to jack up an estimate and most claims adjusters are not experienced enough to dispute it. But, good for you, I guess.

Bent Frame? Location of the truck could also be a thing. Here in Hawaii I could see that dent being 6+k
Nope: Double-wall box; they can’t slide hammer it out from outside, & can’t get inside to pound it out. Answer: Cut entire outside “panel” off all the way to the seam (behind the cab) & graft on a new skin. Then paint. Also, body shops have to comply with manufacturer ‘policy’ to avoid voiding the warranty. That included replacing a lot of stuff that wasn’t damaged in the incident, but was required to be replaced, like the ‘trim’ piece around the wheel well….
They also ‘compromised’ the $1400 taillight bucket when they removed it; and my insurance company paid them full OEM list price for it….

A whole new OEM pickup box, I believe, lists for @ $3K, but all the associated BS costs—which the insurance company didn’t even question—would have put it north of $8-10K. Unreal. Maybe Phil has some wisdom he can share on this stuff?

just a wee bit, wouldn't you say ? I've been up that road and pass, it really isn't a terrible road for the most part, tight in some spots.

doesn't it feel reassuring though that the cabin area it literally intact.
with that cocoon around you, it makes surviving a reality.
Ford did well with the crash survivability
Yep ... in all the pics, the takeaway should be that the body did it's job and protected the people & pup area:blush:

I got sandwiched between two city trucks in my Avalon ... there was not even a piece of glass in the people area.

The front of my truck was backed into by a tractor trailer in March but it was still drivable. Dropped it off April 27th because we had a lot going on that I needed the truck for. They couldn't get the bumper cover mount til the middle of August. The rental car company was pushing my insurance company for total out because they needed there car back.

It's my understanding that insurance rates are about to escalate because many parts for late-model vehicles simply are not available right now and insurance companies are having to just write them off. (At least totaled vehicles are getting top dollar at auction these days, for the remaining parts)

I never used to worry that much about having most of my vehicles totaled out as my attitude was that I'd just by another one to replace it if I had to. But that's not the case anymore. Now I'd have to pay top-dollar for that replacement, assuming I could find a replacement to begin with.
