So my truck was hit this weekend while I was not home. My neighbors were awesome and helped get all the info from the driver. Anyone who have an opinion on the condition of my truck with experience of an accident like this? I know it is just photos but trying to figure out of the truck is salvageable or totaled.

It was just sitting in front of my house when the driver got distracted and hit my truck late Saturday night. Looks like initial impact was the left rear fender/bumper. My truck got pushed up into the retaining wall too. Bed/tailgate are damaged but worried about the frame and left rear control arm. Any comments would be appreciated.

Any pics of the passenger side? Looks like it is pushed up against that wall.

I had a bedside, tail light, bumper replaced on my 2010 F150. It was $6,500. Yours looks more extensive than that.

Not on me right now, but the side definitely got scrapped from the retaining wall.

I doubt it'll be totalled. The quarter panel can be replaced fairly easily but the whole bed can also be swapped out if there's enough damage to it in addition to the obvious damage to the quarter panel. Doesn't look like frame took a direct hit so it's pretty straightforward to make any needed repairs there. Unless your truck has a huge amount of miles to it, I'd be shocked to hear it's totalled, especially with values the way they currently are. It will be expensive but it'll see the road again.

It's all going to depend on the frame. If it's messed up, you're kind of screwed. Even if a bodyshop claims they can repair it, the value of the vehicle goes down the toilet with a structural damage flag on the title. I got rear-ended last month. Similar type of damage. Ended up being a total loss because of the frame damage. The other guy's insurance wanted to repair it. estimate of $24k and 3-4 months of time to swap out the entire frame. I got my insurance to total it out instead. Now I'm going from a 2019 to a 2021!

It doesn't look totaled, it may depend on the estimate.... But I would say good chance it will get fixed and you'll get it back.

Would suck to lose a truck right now, you can't get anything right now.

Dad-gum that sucks. An epidemic of mass proportions of distracted driving going on out there!!
Truly hope for a painless repair of your truck. I see 20K in damage but not a total.

I agree with the guy above. It will depend on the frame. If the frame is damaged then it will probably be totalled, if no damage to the frame it will probably have to get fixes.

Damn I did not think the wall would have been damaged as well.

Did you grab the extra tie downs out of your bed to put on your 21 before they scrapped it?

If they repair it , make sure they also compensate you for the loss of value . A lot of people never think about it but they will cut you a check for the difference . Sometimes you have to argue about what that difference is but you are due the amount .

Hi Lazya27,

Looking at the frame and rear wheel, it looks like the frame will be okay...at worst would be a new rear stub. I think it is repairable and has been pointed out....compensation for dimished value should be part of the decision as well. What a shame....

Best,
Phil

You've already got some good opinions, so I best not say anymore. If I did it would something along the line of "stupid ass drivers not paying attention to their driving needs to beat over the head with a Louisville Slugger". So, it's probably a good thing I'm not going to say anything.

I hope it's not totaled, and gets repaired to your satisfaction.

NO! I had no idea until I read your comment that Ford is now stripping new rangers of those! I found already that they also took out the forward sensors from the new models as well and only made it available in the highest tech packages.

I'm betting it will be totaled. It will require a new bed, and a new front door at least.
