Undoing a Level-Can it be done?

I am wondering if I have made a mistake, sort of?

In the course of leveling my '19 XLT 2WD, and adding a tire size, I seem to have nearly put my truck out of my wife's reach. She struggles to get in and out, even with the running boards I have installed for her benefit.

Can I undo the level, or maybe un-level it a little bit to maybe make it a bit more within her reach? Or would I have to go the route mentioned in the lowering thread and buy a lowering kit to have installed?

Do you have adjustable height shocks in the front? Or are you on spacers? Ether way, lower the nose some and that should help.

It's the Ford/Fox 2" level kit, installed by the local dealership.

Ok, those can be adjusted down. It will soften the ride some. Have to compress the springs to adjust though

Ultimately I'm hoping to be able to work this out in such a way that I don't wake up one day owning a Ridgeline. Or maybe a new Frontier when they come out

Might be a good excuse to put power steps on ? They extended lower and a wider step surface allows challenged ones easy entry and exit.

Agree with this. Albeit a level brings the nose up 2" or more, it really only increases the ride height by 1". I'd say leave the level alone and seek out a better alternative like the AMP powered steps. I'm considering them for my truck.

I am over six feet tall, and the wife is not quite five feet. These are really solid but light enough and can be folded up and taken along wherever the Ranger takes you. Happy Trails!

Agreed. Unless you also leveled the rear of the vehicle up 4", I'm not sure how the possible inch of extra elevation is an issue, unless she was barely able to climb in before.

Adjusting the Fox down to a stock height seems silly and pointless to me.

If you really want to "undo your level" then just do that. Reinstall your stock springs/struts and rear shocks and call it a day.

But I wouldn't do that. I'd just get her some power steps.

I'm secretly hoping the ladies of my house bitch about it when my truck gets taller. It'll give me the opportunity to by them some powersteps.


Also, I believe Westin makes some as well. So you have options rather than just the AMP Research ones.

not being flip about this but how about just put a simple folding step stool in the truck. Some posted what seems like a goof video of a lady using one to get in a lifted truck and used an attached rope to pull it up. I see nothing wrong with that.

She's 5' nothing, and short-legged at that.
Has two brand-new knees and has had a spinal fusion (as have I), so sometimes it is a challenge for her to get up, and has been from day 1 with the truck even before the leveling. For someone like that, an inch or two is a bigger deal than you might think.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you. I think I'll start looking into the power steps to see if they really extend down further than what is already on there, or if maybe I need to change the shape of them to something like a nerf(?) shape (did I get that right?).
