So my plan is to just build and paint some workbenches from good old fashion woods. While I was at home depot yesterday picking up a dump trailer I noticed these:

I really dig the industrial look. The tops long term would need to be replaced with something meant for a workshop (they appear to be a laminate over what is my guess, fiber board). Two of these on the back wall would work nicely to utilize 12 of 18 available feet and give me plenty of room to mount bench tools and have working area. Would run me $800 for two of them though.

Of course stick built from scratch, while wood prices are high now, would be far cheaper, but I don't mind pimping my garage out a little. Whatcha think?

So I've been cruising the web while cooling off from outside and ran across some guys who wanted more of garage floor on their compacted crusher run pad. Looks like a lot of them have had success using horse matts and even some rigid garage flooring snap together tile.

You guys ever experienced anyone using these methods?

Or what about something like this?

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-C...l-Grade-Vinyl-Flooring-HK70CN10X1SG/204820743

Of course this all very dependent on a very well packed and even layer of crusher run.

Mine isn't worth posting as it's nothing special, it's to darn hot here to utilize my garage the way I'd like to. Here I just have a basic rollaway toolbox and a cabinet with some of my detail products. The rest I have to keep in the house closet because of the heat. If I had my way my garage would be double the size of my house like the one below. Maybe in a couple years if/when we get out of here.

Now that is a garage!!

OFC Ranger, my only thought on that is this- if you drive straight in and out it’s probably ok, but I just wonder what happens when you turn the wheel ?

The actual garage is nothing worth mentioning. It was designed to comfortably fit two small vehicles, some yard tools and not much else, lol.

The bottom level of the house is my "Man Room" ™ and one quarter of it is my workshop with a boat door. There's no boat, though.

It's very cozy, lol. The workbench came from where I work. It used to be the shipping guy's bench. I like it because it's tall. I'm tall, too, so now I don't have to lean over much.

The Coca Cola sign is vintage 1970s, I think. I drug it about 1/8 of a mile through thick woods on the property I inherited from Dad two years ago to get it to my vehicle. There's a 5 H.P. Quincy air compressor in the back corner. Overkill for home use, but so is the SXS Honda. I could have bought a smaller one. It only has 35 miles on it. Low mileage, just like my Ranger. :D

The toolboxs on the left were inherited from my brother, he passed away back in the 1990s. Dad gave me the early 1960s era Craftsman tool boxes around 20 years ago. They were like brand new and the drawers were lined with late 1960s era copies of the Atlanta Constitution. Anyone remember newspapers?

I've shared this picture before. 1930s dealership sign. Porcelain on Steel. Inherited from Dad. The old WWII era machete belonged to my grandfather and it's the only thing that I have that was his. Dad inherited it from him and now it's mine.

Another original sign. Mid 1960s, maybe? Inherited from my brother.

Gotta have a bulletin board for pictures, patches, decals, etc.

The big Mustangs were sold at Ford Dealerships back then. The plaque was made by a friend of my Dad's a long time ago. It was hanging in Dad's basement and now it's here.

I wish I had a little more room. I might have a detached garage/workshop built in the future. I want a workshop that looks like an old barn and the Ranger will be in it. :)

Those catch my eye every time I'm in home depot. A piece of 16 ga stainless would make a nice topper for it.

These two larger signs were used in Germany when I was stationed there. The blue one means “now entering the Autobahn” and the round one with the slashes means “no speed limit”

Oh. At first I thought it was "Caution: Bluegrass Music Ahead"

Motorpsychology, I’d love to do my floors, someday
I used Race Deck. Very good quality and I think it's the same flooring you see on Mecum Auctions. Good people to work with. They have several styles and colors and many price ranges and several patterns or you can design your own, like I did. It holds up really well, this floor is six years old and it is immune to chemicals, even brake fluid. I do have some tiles showing a little dullness where the vehicles are driven in with salty, sandy tires, but overall I am pleased. One thing I'd do differently is order something other than a diamond plate pattern. It's raised just like metal diamond plate making it a chore to roll a lift or tool box over. I got it originally because I thought it would offer better traction, but it really isn't necessary. I put two coats of concrete sealer on the bare floor before laying the 1 sq ft tiles. They snap together.
