Picked up some new toys today.
-Nordic Components AR15 from a prize table at last weekend’s match.

-Area419 Maverick suppressor. (Check cashed 8/28/20, approved 5/17/21)

-Optics Ready CZ Shadow2. I hadred Henning grips and red basepads waiting for it when it got here.

-IWI Jericho 941….sort of an Israeli CZ75

Got the pistols tested with various 9mm loads and both shoot great. Rain started before I could test the Maverick tho.

I need a second job or something. That CZ is absolutely beautiful. I’d be happy with the shadow and berettaX performance. I love the heavier full size metal pistols.

High end 2011’s are still as good as it gets for me, but the Shadow2 looks even better in person than the pics and shoots pretty damned well too. The blue scales they come with do pop, but I switch everything to red anyways and the Henning grips have a better profile they feels great in the hands! I have a couple of optics plates for it, one for a Vortex razor (what I use in competition) and another for a future project. It appears pretty straight forward on how to swap an optic on!

Next week, I should have my new Phoenix Trinity Honcho pistol in…..which blows almost every other pistol I own, with the closest being a Hayes Custom 2011 I had built to my specs in 2016 or 2017. I had them polish the flats on the frame and slide on this one, then black nitride finish it. They won’t even let me see pics of the finish, or the custom serial number, until I go to pick it up.

Im definitely a fan of external hammer fired pistols. Maybe you would know, or maybe I’m just not looking in the right places. Is there a reason a lot of the DA/SA don’t come ready for a Reddot? Most of the options I see, you have to have the slide milled by a company or a smith. I mean not too big of a deal, but I wish it came from the factory optics ready. I looked and looked on Beretta’s sight and I don’t see any model of the px4 or 92 that comes optics ready.

What about CZ?

is the striker gang taking over the world?

when you get the pistol please post pictures!

AMCHAR F___ING SUCKS! We ordered a bunch of MRO red dots from them for our division's Daniel Defense shorties. It took MONTHS to get them and a handful of other items we ordered in. I'm talking 6 to 8 months. RIDICULOUS! They kept telling us that everything Trijicon was backordered because of the gun buying craze, yet we were able to see them on the shelf of local gun stores and on Amazon. We probably will never do business with them again.
So I'm not sure how it happened, but Ed's Public Safety got word of our departments deal with AmChar and undercut them. Yea I laughed cause of my poor experience with them at this point.

My bossman actually lives near Ed and they had one blue label 45 MOS left in stock. I paid over the phone and he picked it up for my on letterhead. I still need to install the Deltapoint Pro.

Gonna try this Strike Industries baseplate through a few classes coming up to see how it stands up before replacing all my mag base plates.

Brings capacity up from 17+1 to 23+1 .

Get you some LOK grips. Bit pricey, but worth it.

Also CZ mags (do your research on which ones) work no problem in them. I believe mine are the 19 rounders for the SP01 line.

Easily the best shooting gun (due to weight) in my collection. Problem is lack of holster selection or I'd keep it in my SRT equipment for deployment.

By the way Cajun Gunworks can do an optic cut on it, but only for the Leupold Delta Point. They are the only company I could find to do an optic cut for this gun.

In the competition world, hammer fired still rules. The X5 Legion has increased presence a little, and Glocks still have some high numbers as well, but the podiums are packed with hammer fired pistols.

The optics ready aspect is a hard one. More and more companies are coming out with optics ready pistols, some with a single bolt pattern, others with adaptor plates. Frankly, there is no standard bolt pattern currently for micro dots and their durability is suspect from every brand. Some pistol brands don’t have quite as much room to be able to mount an optic, like the Beretta 92’s slide design. Ways are being figured out tho.

Eventually, I’d imagine most pistols will have some option available from the factory, and once Army trials for pistol optics start I’d imagine there will be a standard set.

I still have a Sig 320 X Compact with Romeo1Pro incoming, but it’s coming direct from Sig and not sure it will be here when my Honcho arrives. Should be a fun carry sized pistol to play with tho.

LOK grips and new sights are gonna be a must. I have a dozen 19rd nickel CZ mags, setting 6 up with Henning basepads for 23rds to use in carry optics and 6 more with Henning standard length basepads for production that will limit back to 17rds for length.

For Glock mags, I always liked the Dawson basepads the best due to how they mounted. I have steel MBX Glock mags now and will take them when budget isn’t a concern.

Yea I am just trying the SS base plates due to cost. They come with a new spring too. Of course its polymer priced at $18 a pop. I've got too many projects going to dump $150 on 3 metal base plates from a higher end company.

I have five various pistol classes coming up GSPTC over the next 6 months or so and this will give me a chance to run the 45 MOS w/Leupold DPP and Alien Gear Rapid Force L3 holster through some paces. I'm almost at the finish line convincing my department heads they are a bunch of old farts yelling at clouds and its time to allow officers to equip their duty pistols no different than their duty rifles.

Basic Description of Law Enforcement: "We need to stay modern and efficient."

Also Basic Description of Law Enforcement: "This is how its always been done and how we are going to continue to do it."

I've nothing personal against any boss I've ever had, but law enforcement administration can be some of the biggest bunch of Luddites I've ever encountered even when in 95% of the situations the individual officer gladly pays for their own improved stuff above standard department issued garbage.

Our department is just now considering paying for TRL-1's to issue to officers. Of course all of us rolled our eyes cause we bought our own WML's a long long long long time ago.

Par for the course. Although it is cool to see a judge stand up for our 2A rights in Cali, this state is so far gone right now that it is hard to get excited about any ruling that goes our way. Not too hard to predict a major population shift in the near future from blue cities/states after true colors were shown during COVID lockdowns.

My wife and I have been talking about moving to a free state, and ID is one on the table. My sister recently married and is living with her husband in Troy, MT. Beautiful country up there.

Doug @Snorebaby I know you were looking for this for your wife before you started your AR builds. They're finally back in stock ($400) in case you want to spend some more money. lol

Thanks @AzScorpion for the heads up. I will check with her to see if she wants to still get it. I built the AR .22 for her and she likes it a lot. I may wait and see if it comes down a little more and get it "just because" LOL.
