No, I did not consider the others. I have no need for a winch. I figure if it is good enough for the Texas DPS and a number of county and local departments, it is good enough for me. Plus, it is built here in TX. Keeps other Texans working ! As for hideous, that is your opinion which, you are entitled to. As long as it protects the front end, that is all I give a damn about. Feral hogs don't give a care what it looks like when one hits them on a county road.
It's a Texas thing. Thank goodness the cheerleaders graze on a football field.

Damn straight
His has the sensors. You can see the Radar unit and harness in the first pic of the Ranger.

As for how the grill guard works with the Ranger's sensors, looks like the inner two parking sensors are relocated to the lower bar of the guard and do not block the Radar sensor or outer parking sensors at all. Well provided he got the relocation kit and this specific grill guard since it's the only one listed for the Ranger on Ranch Hand's site.

Excellent picture. That is the one I have. Installation was under 3 hrs, no cutting of body parts. The lower cross bar is deeper than it looks in the picture. Haven't decided if I want to add an LED light bar. I have the H/O Ford Performance fogs on order with Benny @ Levittown. After they are installed and I have the chance to use them, then I will decide. Ridgid has one specifically designed for it. Several of our CLEAR units have it on their push bumpers.

All joking aside... these totally make sense in areas where there are a lot of accidents involving animals on the road.

I had a jack rabbit do $1,500 dollars worth of damage in 2005 to my 2002 Tacoma.... when it jumped through the grille when I was doing 45 mph. The grille guard you are using would have prevented the damage.

Exactly. We have a lot of them in my county. Turkey buzzards are another issue. They basically dare you to run over them.

I was just curious if you had looked at them. I'm weighing options for winch installation and those to appeal to me, although I'm not sure how much protection they'd add for the vermin here. Was simply looking for your thoughts on them if you had looked them over.

To be clear, the hideous comment was for the grumper on the SuperDuty. It's way too "out there" for me. Things can be strong AND appealing to the eye.

Yours look nice.

What kind of protection do you think it would provide for taller beasts, deer, elk, pronghorn, and such?

Evidently pretty good protection. The upper bar, from right to left will deflect debris from striking the leading edge of the hood, negating the need for an aftermarket bug/stone shield. Dana carries the others you mentioned too. In fact, they have several on display in the lobby of the up fitting center in Ft Worth. Being as how I have no need for a winch (my ex was a wench  ), I opted for one that was designed to deflect critters (she fit that description too. ;) ). Being retired LE, I asked procurement. Evidently, the ones of most such as Setina, Rhino, etc are to open in the center. Thus leaving the radiator exposed to damage. The last thing one wants in the desolate areas of western TX.

I'll keep that in mind if I go with one of those options.

Sounds like you'd recommend the Westin...

due to that radiator coverage you spoke of.

Still a bit concerned about what, say an elk, might do to those wings on a corner strike. Lots of discussion on whether they help with large vermin or are a damage multiplier. For example...

Lots of good words about your Ranch hand in there.

My biggest issue is the damn turkey buzzards. They will actually attack the vehicle. Or, wait till the last moment to abandon the road kill. That's when your grill gets hammered.

Hi Mike,

Yep. We have turkey vultures here and behavior is similar...they will not give up the road kill until the last minute. They do not seem to attack anything though. They help keep the desert clean...

 Yours are more civilized. The Explorer ST had a Setina PB 408 with the optional headlight guards. I could stop just in front of a deceased armadillo, those suckers would fly up and perch on the top cross bar and glare at me. Heaven help you if you got out to move what they were eating out of the road.

Something like this looks more attractive to me today. I hit an estimated 6 lb hawk at 75 mph on the interstate at 5:30 AM this morning. Have a nice crack in my grill now.

Exactly why I bought it. Owls going after field rats are just as bad.

Calves have no concept of what barbed wire is either. Pronghorn antelope are habitual offenders too. ;)

Pronghorn, they're not antelopes, are assholes.
Tell me............. Grew up in Aspen before it was discovered. Once I left, only went back for my late father's 75th. None of the family lives there now. Even my daughter now lives in Superior. Telluride has gone to hell in a handbasket too.
