I find it funny on the bronco forums with folks worried that it will be sluggish. I feel like the bronco with the 2.3 and manual trans could be a lot of fun. On the other hand I’m thinking the 2.7 is going to be downright fast.
I’m thinking the 6G Ranger PHEV (362 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque) will make both the 2.3 and 2.7 feel sluggish.

Pretty peppy 2.3 right? No tune on mine...just some bolt on like cat-back exhaust and BOV and she always feels quick off the line. Yesterday, I lined up on the outside of a 3 to 2 lane merge...woman in a new BMW next to me...I thought I'd just punch it and get off the line first to merge in front of her...light turns green and she unexpectedly punched it the same time I did with a slight lead but we locked position up to 50 as she then merged left...I don't think she knew I was there but just trying to get to the left as I was...I had to smile that my fully loaded camp truck (5,500#) was holding it's own...

Cool! Ford trucks are quite capable with just a tune. My 17 F-150 3.5 Ecoboost went 12.96 with just a 93 octane tune otherwise completely stock.

I ran the truck once.....4 passes beat everyone including 2 Mustang Gt's. A lot of hurt feeling that day.

Here is one of the runs.....

I have a close friend who is thinking about selling his F150 Snake. It has been driven occasionally hard, but still has 18 months of transferable warranty left. The price he offered is in the mid $60s, or about half what it cost originally.

I'm thinking about it, but it won't fit into my garage, unless I remove my work bench. Really? I'm just sitting here and saying to myself.... Hummmm!

My Ranger had only been out of the break-in period for a couple of months and I had never floored it before. I had just entered a 2-lane onramp for the interstate that has a bit of an uphill grade before merging on to the highway. (People not familiar with this ramp don't appreciate the grade or the fact that they'll soon be merging with 65 mph traffic, so they often find themselves at the top going less than 50, which is unpleasant for the traffic at speed) Not far behind me was a kid in a rice rocket who thought he was going to pass me before the merge. I thought, "Um, no" and floored it for the first time. I felt my back push into the seat and I was a quarter mile ahead of the guy in seconds. And I'm pretty sure he didn't expect to get smoked by a mere stock pickup truck.

I've always heard to break them in like you drive them. Give the brakes an tires a chance to wear a little. I hammered it a few times after about a week of easy commuting. I generally drive easy around town, 5-10 mph over on the highway an hammer it to pass the idiots.
First drive with salesman after purchase in Tasca back street , stomped on it and we both laughed . My only momentary word was WOW . Then walked into show room to see the funny car , felt Ford proiud . Meant Ford proud but still laughing at the memory of it all .

why did you wait?
they expressly tell you to vary your speed and change through the gears
forget about the "labor the engine" concept, you're not having a baby.
drive it like you stole it

"Laboring" the engine does NOT mean revving the snot out of it, it actually means the opposite i.e. lugging it at low rpm in too high a gear. Which is not possible in our automatic-only only Rangers, so these break-in instructions were written for a manual trans vehicle.

This statement is not true: Which is not possible in our automatic-only only Rangers,

If you're in Sports mode, you sure can "lug it" if you try. And as long as there is a load on the engine, it will not downshift until the vehicle slows below about 8 mph.

I have always seen “Sport” mode as kind of a joke since it didn’t seem to make much difference on regular vehicles. So with 2500 Miles on the od I pulled the shifter back today..

Oh My God

totally transformed vehicle in S. I can’t get over it.

I never made it to the dyno run I had planned. Had to deal with that stupid climate control module change and didn't reschedule. I do want to see what she'll do at the track. I'm hoping to make a run at Bandimere Speedway here in Denver next week. ;)
