Hey! Just picked up a a 2021 xlt and came from an f-150 that had the keyless entry pad. I loved that thing so I spec’d one for the new ranger. After seeing how cheap the stick on looks I have heard reports of people putting them inside the fuel door. Anyone have any experience with that? Got any pictures of where you mounted it in there?
Thanks!!

Not my picture but one I saved from here. From what I've read those that have mounted it there haven't had any issues.

If it's the gray tape with the red plastic protective cover, it is most likely the 3M VHB tape that is most commonly used. It's not cheap, and it is used to adhere window panels to skyscrapers.

I keep a roll of that stuff around for a lot of outdoor applications. It's VERY effective as long as you clean the surface you are adhering to with soap to remove dirt, then with alcohol. Once it is dried from the alcohol, you can adhere the tape and hope you never have to take it off.

I haven't gotten a single thing to mount on my vehicle in the past 5 years that didn't use this tape. It kicks ass.

Oh I don’t doubt the stickiness, more speaking of just the pad in general. Previous generations seemed more integrated where as the stick on kind of looks like an afterthought! Plus I enjoy the look of the clean door but also love the ease of the pad.

The fuel door is exactly how I did this on my F150 when I had it. Worked well and I liked that it was hidden. Just make sure you have clearance before peeling off the sticky backing.
