Here are a few more “less exciting” (but very practical) accessories that have been installed.
The cylinder for the cover is less intrusive than I expected!

How are liking the Retrax/Embark Tonneau Cover? Does it keep the snow and wet out?

About the toolbox, how secure is it against weather, and someone who's too curious about what you're keeping inside? It seems like the perfect compartment for a tow hitch, straps, and maybe some emergency flares.

Regarding your preferred KM3 tires, I've had both A/Ts and M/Ts on my truck, and for just an occasional weekend romp in the dirt, I'd suggest A/Ts such as BFG KO2s or Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx's (Dick Cepek Fun Country as excellent as well) - less noise and better handling on pavement, plus excellent offroad traction on trail and rock (a friend completed the Rubicon on a set of KO2s, no sweat).

OOPS, NEVER MIND, just read the previous posts showing that you'd already bought your tires (I'd read only up to Page 1 before making the above comments).

No need to apologize. Your suggestion was bang on actually. I’ve had several trucks with KO2s in the past and you are right that they are a better choice “overall” for an occasional off-roader ... and I also found them awesome in the snow, important where I live. For the everyday guy the street benefits really do outway the compromise you make in traction.

However I personally prefer making the “comfort” compromise than the traction. You have to take into account that the climate I live in makes for very muddy, soft terrain trails (I live in Quebec, Canada) and the KO2s just dont perform well enough in those conditions to make me trust them off-road, especially if I’m solo. They pack up really quickly (we are also cursed with clay in lots of areas) and are hard to self-clean.

As for the “foldy boxy thing” (lol) I can’t comment since I haven’t used it yet (waiting on a leveling kit to install my new tires while I wait for my Icon lift) but your suggested use is exactly what I was planning!

Test fitting my winter tires (285/70R17) on stock wheels. No lift, no spacers (still waiting on both). So far looks like only trimming of inner fenders will be necessary. Very surprised! Stay tuned for more updates.

I haven't bought my truck yet, but yours is pretty close to my desired spec: blue, sport package, FX4, 285/70/17 tires. I was worried whether this size tires would while cranked lock to lock rub the inner fenders, or heaven forbid, the chassis tube just in front of the front tire... without a lift; let us know! Looks great, by the way.

Dont get too excited! lol I haven’t heard back from the dealer since last Thursday. I doubt their initial enthusiasm about “simple triming of inner fender” will actually pan out. Levelling kit coming in this week so more chance of working out that way.

Oh boy @Rockweiler, your truck looks nice. Maybe I’m biased to the LB XLT FX4 but whatever. Love it.
Thanks man! And right back at ya!
If you like it now, keep an eye out for it ‘cause it’s gonna get a lot better in the coming weeks.

I like that cover. Its retractable like motorized? With the tailgate locked is it secure closed?
