Even as an hourly employee I was able to participate in a couple of launches. Trips to Dearborn were fairly common. My recollection of Millers was that you ordered at the bar. Cheeseburger fries and a drink. When you finished you stopped by the bar and told them what you had and they told you how much. Complete honor system. That's old school for sure.Hi Trevor,
We had a strip joint on Michigan Ave in Dearborn called the Silver Cricket...we called the Dearborn Ballet. Place I went to a lot was Millers Bar...wonderful place that was a step back in time to the 1950. Decor etc. Served a Ground Round with fries on a waxed paper with no plate right at the bar. Sadly the whole Michigan Ave in Dearborn is a desolate drive with dilapidated store fronts. Milles's has few Ford employees as they eat at their cube while in and on line meeting...there is no lunch break anymore. Sad, Sad, Sad.
Wife and I first met at the Dearborn for our first date (2nd Marriage). We went back last year and it just was not the same...We were celebrating 15 years of our first date...

As for the Ballet. We were told about the ones over in Windsor Canada. So we headed over. When the border agent asked us what our business was in Canada one of the guys said "we are going to the Ballet, Daddio" it turns out that border agents apparently don't have a sense of humor or don't like being called daddio. Who knew. We got to " Pull over there" where we were treated to a thorough search and interrogation. We did make it to the Ballet, but once was enough for me. After that I was like, been there done that. Y'all have fun.
As a side note for anyone that has not been to Dearborn. Go stay at the Dearborn Inn, It was built in 1931 by Henry Ford. Visit the Henry Ford museum. It is like a step back in time. Not just Ford history but American history. Hopefully after this covid mess. Visit the Ballets are at your own risk.
