Alright, ive read a bit about how your truck needs to be in gear with the brake depressed in order for it to recognize the battery in my camper and send voltage. Makes sense.

What doesnt make sense is that my positive pin on my 7 pin ( 7 oclock position on truck side) is grounded. Like has continuity with the frame and can get 13v when the positive of my volt meter is on the tail lights and the negative of my meter is on the supposedly (+) side.

Hooked this up and my camper battery was shorting itself out thru the charging line!

Any help would be great

Two possibilities, make sure you are looking at the truck connector properly. It is mounted upside down to what is considered standard. Second, has your trailer been rewired? I haven't heard of anyone having issues with how the connector on the truck is wired. Mine works perfectly. The 12v pin will not power up without a trailer plugged in and truck running.

It is mounted upside down. Pin 3 - trailer running lights is at 5 oclock thus 7 oclock should be 12v.

It's a keyed connector, how could it be plugged in wrong?

Hinge side is down on the truck and has a diagram placing the +terminal at 7 oclock. The above diagram has the hinge on top placing the + terminal at 1 oclock. Its not wrong just how it is oriented on the truck
