It is definitely more than a low pitch whine. It is a HIGH pitch whine, that can definitely be heard no matter where you are. Coming home the very FIRST day from the dealership, my neighbors dog looked at me like I was an alien turning down my driveway. No, it's just me in my BRAND new pickup.
Wow Joe, that's nothing like ours. And, the Ranger I test drove Monday was quiet as a mouse. Good luck, I hope it's nothing serious. But, one consolation is you've got that 5yr/60K mile powertrain warranty. If they buck you can say "I told you so" when they bring it on on a rollback. Although I certainly hope it doesn't come to that. Good luck sir, and keep us updated.

It honestly sounds to me like one of the brake dust shields is rubbing where it shouldn't. When I installed my leveling kit I had to disassemble a bunch of the front end suspension. During that procedure I managed somehow to slightly bend the flimsy circular piece of metal that sits just behind (engine side) the brake disc - I assume it's a dust shield, but I admit I don't know exactly what it is called. Within a day of finishing up installing the leveling kit, I started to hear a whine VERY similar to what OP shared. I was able to determine it was coming from the front right tire area, so I jacked the truck up and tried just manually rotating the tire. Doing so made it obvious really quickly where the noise was coming from. I pulled the tire off and easily bent the metal plate back straight (it only needs to move a millimeter or 2 to start rubbing).

No noise at all since then.

I hope it's something simple, OP!

It is definitely not normal. If that doesn't help, as others have said, take it back to the dealer. It almost sounds electronic to me. It is a very odd noise for sure.
To all,
Thank you to everyone for the ideas and suggestions. I just returned from the dealer and they found the “back
plate” was running on the rotor at slow speeds, causing the incredible high pitch noise. They claimed they bent it back a few mm and now it shouldn’t be a problem. I am thankful that it wasn’t the TSB transmission problem. Thanks again for the very helpful Ranger5g forum!

Seems like it was exactly what I described in my comment above - the plate that sits just next to the brake rotor can easily get bent just a tiny bit and cause a terrible noise.

Glad it was super simple, and hopefully you have no other issues with your new truck!

Joe, I'm happy to hear it wasn't nothing serious. Now, you can enjoy your Ranger again.

I'm glad they figured out what the issue was and took care of it. It is funny how some of the most frustrating issues can be the most simple to fix. Lot's of good info on this forum too.
