My FIL has always said, and has reinforced it over the years, carrying a .22 is still better than carrying nothing. And like you mention, Dave, they can be very effective if you know what you're doing. I wouldn't have any problem carrying a .22 with hollow-points, especially with 10 rnds or more.
That's my feeling too Bryan,a 22 is better than nothing. Besides that I think most of these micro 9mm are way to snappy and you tend to lose your site picture on them because they're so small. I just feel that if you're going to pocket carry why not something comfortable and lightweight, the Ruger only weighs 11.2 oz.

A 22?
People think I'm nuts when I carry my Tomcat 32 and not my 9mm's!
Lol...I've had my share tell me that a 9mm was to small to carry.

Lol Dave,my buddies get on me for having a 25. I have an old friend in another state that was a gun dealer and he said when they get on me about it he said to ask if I could shoot them with it,they all said no. LOL!
Lol...I bet they wouldn't volunteer for that. ? Heck I have a pellet gun that I use for these nasty pigeons here and even that I wouldn't want to get hit with. I'm using the red tip pellets and even they are 1250 FPS.

My wife loves her LCPII. Not as snappy as you read in our opinion. A much better pistol in many ways over the older LCP. A little more punch with a 380 too.
Though, she'll carry the P365 a bit when I get the MK9 that's being delivered Thurs.

Just coming across this thread now. The wife and I have finally pulled the, well, uh trigger. We both picked up our first handguns. Well first for any gun for either of us. After some research we went to a gun shop that a coworker works part time at. We knew we wanted 9mm and compacts. CCW as well but can’t apply until our state “allows” us.

Wife went with a Sig 365 XL and I with a G48 with factory tritium sights.

Great choices for your first guns Dave! I'm soooo close to buying the Sig P365 XL right now. I have smaller hands and like the thin grip and I like that it's just a little bit longer (.6) than the standard P365 which helps keeps the muzzle from jumping on these smaller pistols. I never could find a Glock that felt comfortable in my hands. One of my friends I shoot with has a Glock 19 and I have a hard time with it. I know there's a newer one out,I can't remember what the number is, but it's thinner like the P365.

You'll have to come back and let us know how you like it once you have a chance to get out and shoot them. But if you think the Ranger was expensive for mods maybe you might not want to come back. lol This can be even more because they do get addicting, especially 1911's. I'm warning you now stay way from them! lol :curse:

Stinger had the worst penetration with the penta polnt.
The first hog I killed was 30 lb shoat..on the run I fired all 10 rounds. He ran behind a bush and I reloaded, when I went around to the other side he stood up, I was now 10 ft away and I put one in his eye. Now the reason he layed down was because one of the rounds broke his right rear leg. Upon cleaning the hog, there were 5 destroyed penta points under the skin of the neck, none touched the spine.
after that I switched to thunderbolts and never had a problem after that.
Heavier bullet, weight vs velocity..
Regards
Yup the 22 is such a light round you'll need a heavier bullet for more penetration. But once it's in there it will bounce all over the place. lol

It's funny you bring up the Thunderbolts Doc. I was having some FTF and FTE on my new M&P 22 compact on Saturday. I was using Winchester HV's and when I switched to the Thunderbolts it cycled flawlessly. 22's are the most finicky guns out there! I've had some guns that would take anything and then some like this one is choosy about what it will take. The Thunderbolts are notorious for jambs but in this case I ran a few hundred rounds through 2 different 22's with zero issues. Normally I like the Federals in 22 but I've been trying to get rid of the Winchester and the Remington's so that's all I brought. Next trip I'll bring the Feds just to make sure they cycle good through this gun.

I’ve heard of thunderbolts jamming but it’s never happened to me. I believe initially it had something to do with the powder. also, a round nose bullet offers better reliability , in general, they feed better. One reason the military uses all round ball ammo as their firearms are repeatedly exposed to dirt and dirt and hollowpoints don’t mix well in a dirt and sand environment, especially in a new gun with a rough feeding ramp.

Great choices! I think ya'll will both love them. I haven't held or shot the G48 yet. I like the glocks as far as fit, feel and accuracy but the only drawback for me is that the trigger guard is too close to the trigger and my finger rubs it. After about 50 rounds my finger begins to get sore. I don't have that problem with my P365 or any other gun I have.

@Nutty 5.0 This is some friendly advice. Since this is your first firearm, please take a course on gun safety before firing your first round. Also, take it apart and put it back together to get familiar with how it works. You will need to clean it every so often and that requires field stripping it. Your coworker will be knowledgeable and all questions in this thread will be answered honestly and respectfully. Don't assume it's a dumb question, if you don't know something means that you need to know it.

Welcome to the world of firearms....be prepared to spend money. A good holster(s) and a good belt will go a long way in your Every Day Carry (EDC). Most of us probably have 2 or 3 holsters for every pistol we have. :giggle:

As far as a belt goes, @AzScorpion (Dave) told me about these KORE belts and I love mine. Actually bought a Tactical and Dress EDC belt at the same time. I wear the Tactical everyday.

Calling @Snorebaby, @SubVet , @joeb427 lol . Please, anyone else who has any info I'm interested in you're input. I just know Doug,Tom and Joe have the P365. When you guys were looking at the P365's did you happen to check out the P365 XL ? It's only .6 longer and comes standard with the new XRAY3 Day/Night sights and 2/12 round mags. I was looking at the black one here but then stumbled across this one here in Coyote Tan. That one comes with 2/12 round mags and 1/15 round mag.

.6 isn't going to make any difference when carrying and I do like the night sites, extra mag and the Coyote Tan with the flat trigger. What say you?

I got the 365XL as soon as I could get my hands on one and unfortunately couldn’t fall in love with it. I’ve come to the conclusion that it was due to the flat trigger and the height of the beaver tail on this particular grip. My natural finger placement always put my finger at the very top of the trigger, resulting in a heavier trigger pull that clearly effected the groupings. If I made a mental note each time I picked it up to adjust my finger lower on the trigger, I would shoot it fine. With that being said, I don’t trust that I will mentally remember to adjust finger placement in the event I ever had to pull a firearm, and didn’t want to train muscle memory for different trigger placement that would then effect how I shoot every other handgun. Other than that I loved everything about this gun (maybe not the price of magazines) but have gone back to my 43x with shield arms 15rd magazines that I shoot extremely well for everyday concealed carry, and typically carry the P229 Legion when I’m able to open carry.

Pretty big difference. I'm looking at smaller guns.

Actually it is not as much as you would think. I think the video review comparing the 365 and the XL (along with a G48) is pretty good. I carry the 365 with the 12rd mag. So it and the XL are almost identical in height. That only makes the barrel the biggest difference. I like the smaller guns too. My brother carries the S&W Bodyguard. Nice pocket gun.

The first flat trigger I ever had was the one I put one on my CZ Scorpion last spring. I didn't find it all that hard to get use to and now like it a lot more than the curved ones. I wish I didn't already replace most of my AR triggers with aftermarket curved ones as I would use a flat one on them too. As far as the higher beaver tail I'm use to those and I have several 1911's and like that style,I actually shoot much better with them.

Sigs mags and their other accessories have always been more expensive than most other brands but their quality is top notch. I would trust my life with any of their products, just my wallet doesn't always like it. lol

The barrel length is only 1/2" longer and the weight is just under 3 oz. All the videos I've seen comparing these two they all liked the XL better. Even though it's only 1/2" longer it does give you a better site picture and less recoil. Not that the standard P365 is bad, they just said this one is that much better.
