I’ve been so happy with the Ford drivetrains in big vehicles: 4r100 and 5R110, that I had no fear of the ranger trans. However - I know 3 people who have ford cars where the tans crapped out (Fusion) but since I don’t buy Ford appliance cars it’s a non-issue for me.
For whatever reason, I always end up buying a Ford product when it’s time for a new car for my wife or me. Since owning my first truck in HS which was a 1974 Ford F-250, I have had a 1989 Mustang LX 5.0, 1992 Ford Escort, a Ford Taurus Wagon, a Ford Explorer, a Ford Windstar, a 1966 Ford Mustang, 2005 Ford Focus, 2007 Ford Freestyle, 2014 Ford Fusion, 2014 Mustang GT, 2018 Ford Fusion, 2016 Ford Mustang, and a 2019 Ford Ranger.

I think I am missing one. but, I can make my point, none of these vehicles ever had a tranny problem. Dodge on the other hand, has given me tranny problems in every single one. I’m finished with dodge now.

All of my Fords have run clean and have required nothing accept gas, oil, tires, lights and brake work. All standard wear items. Even my 2005 Focus that were notorious for bad manual transmissions is still original and driven regularly. The 2007 Freestyle was my first (and only) CVT. I didn’t find fault with that trans. It did what I needed.

That makes no sense but okay.
I was saying that with 84 payments, the balance owed on the principal will go down at a much slower pace than the truck will depreciate.

yes but at 0% who cares? The truck is already depreciated by the time you drive off the lot. If your gonna keep it that long does it really matter?

So after too much research and 2 very enjoyable test rides and after determining that this ranger is the best vehicle for me to own, I’m now on hold. Two things hold me back. Quirky transmission shifts and oil dilution. I have considered other vehicles but I’ve noticed the transmission issues seem to with all the companies 8,9 and 10 speed transmissions. It’s like they all bought in to these too many gears transmissions to keep chasing epa regulations. My 2014 Honda CR-V has 5 speeds, fun to drive and I know it will run forever. My 2007 Dodge Ram 5.9 cummins with 4 speed trans in running like the day I bought it new. I looked at Honda passport but ZF9 speed transmission is not in my future nor is any cvt transmission. Right now there‘s not a new car I feel comfortable owning. Thanks for listening.
I'm really not sure on the "quirky transmission shifts" thing. I've had my Ranger for a year now and the transmission is flawless. It's smooth and efficient. I love it. So it kinda confuses me how you're seeing issues.
