For whatever reason, I always end up buying a Ford product when it’s time for a new car for my wife or me. Since owning my first truck in HS which was a 1974 Ford F-250, I have had a 1989 Mustang LX 5.0, 1992 Ford Escort, a Ford Taurus Wagon, a Ford Explorer, a Ford Windstar, a 1966 Ford Mustang, 2005 Ford Focus, 2007 Ford Freestyle, 2014 Ford Fusion, 2014 Mustang GT, 2018 Ford Fusion, 2016 Ford Mustang, and a 2019 Ford Ranger.I’ve been so happy with the Ford drivetrains in big vehicles: 4r100 and 5R110, that I had no fear of the ranger trans. However - I know 3 people who have ford cars where the tans crapped out (Fusion) but since I don’t buy Ford appliance cars it’s a non-issue for me.
I think I am missing one. but, I can make my point, none of these vehicles ever had a tranny problem. Dodge on the other hand, has given me tranny problems in every single one. I’m finished with dodge now.
All of my Fords have run clean and have required nothing accept gas, oil, tires, lights and brake work. All standard wear items. Even my 2005 Focus that were notorious for bad manual transmissions is still original and driven regularly. The 2007 Freestyle was my first (and only) CVT. I didn’t find fault with that trans. It did what I needed.
