Anyone else get a Ranger used as loaner?

So I bought a 2019 Ranger the end of December. On the test drive I saw that it already had 2200 miles on it. They explained it had been used as a loaner car by the dealer. I was told it lessened my 36,000 mile warranty by those 2200 miles, which is why they gave me an extra discount on the truck. I think, okay, I can live with that. Last month I go on the Ford owners website and set up my account, and find that I also lost 7 months of my 36 month warranty! No one told me that, and the paperwork I received makes no mention of this either. This makes a big difference to me because I’m retired and will most likely hit the 36 months (now less 7 months) long before I hit 36k miles. I did add an extended warranty, and glad I did, but I’m pissed that I wasn’t told this.

I wrote a letter to the New Car Sales Manager and haven’t heard anything. I plan to go up there and talk to someone, but has anyone else had this issue? Is there anything I can do at this point?

I looked at a courtesy vehicle at a Ford dealership not long ago and was told that they extend the mileage and time warranty. But if the vehicle's Certificate of Origin was transferred to someone, then you bought an essentially used vehicle.

The build date is April 2019 and the warranty activated May 31, I assume when it hit the dealer’s lot. It was advertised as a new car.

I'm pretty sure you were lied to. Did you see my edit that details the FCTP?

If the vehicle's in service date was May 31, 2019 and you bought it, say December 31, 2019 that would explain why your warranty coverage has decreased by the time which lapsed between those 2 dates.
Did the dealer disclose to you the in service date prior to you buying it? Is the in service date not listed on the sales agreement at all?
If so, then you don't have an argument, the in service date is when the warranty coverage starts, in your case May 31, 2019, it does not restart again on the day you actually bought it.

What i find unusual is that the FCTP plan which quirkybar8 mentioned is that the vehicle is eligible for Ford's X-Plan program, I would consider the vehicle used and therefore ineligible, but Ford can make up their own rules regarding this, a boon to a potential buyer.
Worth of note is that Ford throws in a 2 year/24K maintenance plan, this is not an extension of the vehicles warranty.

It sounds a little shady, but... What was the extra discount? We need to judge if the discount was worth the warranty time loss or if you got screwed.

They may not have mentioned the warranty time period but it does sound like they made it clear it was essentially a used truck and discounted as such. A used truck will never have a full 36 month warranty so you get what you had left of the factory warranty.

From what I'm reading here, everything makes sense so far.

This appears to be a generic form, I am reasonably certain your contract should be the same.

Maybe Texas doesn't allow dealers to sell courtesy vehicles as new and I've misspoken. Other states appear to allow them to use the vehicles without titling. That was certainly what I was led to believe here, and dealers from MI and TN both refer to them as new vehicles.

Your best approach may be to look at your contract, contact the Texas AG's Consumer Protection division, or the DMV.

I figure the discount I got was $4,550, not related to rebates at the time. I can’t look at the paperwork until tomorrow, to check if there’s an in service date.listed.

If it did qualify as a FCTP program vehicle then maybe I should bring that up? I’m not even sure they would’ve brought up the loaner thing if I hadn’t asked why the mileage was so high.

Hawaii allows the dealer the practice of placing the vehicle in service un-titled.
My brother bought a 2019 Ridgeline which was used as a courtesy car for a sports event here, the warranty start date was when the vehicle was actually first placed in service for the event.
He bought the vehicle heavily discounted, he even brokered a deal where the dealer through in a Honda extended 5 year warranty (not some bogus independent underwriter).
Our Mama don't raise no dummies...

Yep, bought a 2200 mile "loaner" for about $10k under another dealers "loaner" and $12.5k under for a zero miles example.

Selling dealer fully disclosed the history and that the 3/36 warranty started when the vehicle first went into service.

As an un-titled vehicle with its original certificate of origin, fully qualified as new here in Florida.

For me, the $32.5k out the door price for the Lariat more than makes up for an abbreviated warranty.

Five years ago we bought a dealer demo with 4550 miles and 6 months on it. The warranty started when it was originally placed into service, 6 months prior. The one year free sat radio also started then. We lost 6 months off the warranty and free sat radio as well as 4550 off the mileage warranty. This is in Texas.

Bought loaner vehicle with 2500 miles Sep 25th built in May. Just checked paperwork and was "new" and warranty date started on Sep 25th, also Sirius started that day. Would have to dive into paperwork farther to see if warranty was extended by the miles but really wouldn't concern me as the years will go by before the miles in my case.

Both the purchase agreement and the motor vehicle sales contract note the truck as NEW, with nothing else marked.
