Hot Pepper Red Color

I pre-ordered a Hot Pepper Red Ranger. I got to thinking that I have never seen that color in person and wanted to take a look at it. According to the Ford build and price site, the Focus, Fiesta and CMax are available in HPR. A dealer north of me had 3 HPR Focus' on the lot, so I went to take a look.

The color is very orange in person. Not sure if I like it or not. But, it did not look like the pictures of the Ranger on the build and price site. If you look at the image attached, even though the color is the same name, the colors are entirely different. The Ranger HPR is much darker and redder, while the Focus is definitely orangey.

I sampled the color from the same spot on the swatches and they are different also.

So, is anyone familiar enough with Ford colors to know if they are consistent between models?

Every picture and video I've seen of the Ranger makes it look very red and not very orange.

You have to see the color in person the configutor color is always way off what the color really looks like.

I guess it is a moot point now, I just called my dealer and changed the color to White Platinum. I don't think I could live with that orange color for long.

Did you use the big color swatch that the dealer has, about 8" x 8" in size? I took it outside and it definitely looked orangish just like the Focus on the lot looked.

I posted on my Hot Pepper a few weeks ago. I call it Hot Tomato. Very orangish especially to my wife’s RED Buick. Yet when I had TVD Vinyl decals send me samples, the closest was Scarlet Red!

It is no where close to the early years Race Red, but it has grown on me.

Finally, Toyota had a color very similar on a truck. Almost walked to the wrong one after the gym.

I looked at one in that color. It was configured *exactly* the way I would've ordered it. Unfortuntely when I saw it in person it was more of a "copper" color than red, which is what caused me to pass (I've since ordered one in velocity blue).

Mine has always been a chameleon depending on the light. From orange hues to reds. Partly the reason I like it so much.

Always been a fan of that Mazda red, and I think you all know which red im talking about.

And today, I saw a GMC pickup with a fantastic red that matches the awe of the Mazda red and the HPR

Seeing colors in person is a must as swatches do nothing

Haha, my dad just got a Mazda with Soul Red Metallic. Hopefully I can park my HPR Ranger next to it soon.

Have gotten a lot of compliments on mine since I bought it in June of 2019. I didn't think I would be all that crazy about it when I ordered it but man as soon as I saw it at the dealer I was very happy with my decision.
