My dealer let me know that my Ranger has been assigned a VIN number and a build date of January 14th, 2019. My truck will be roughly the 4,000th Ranger to roll off the assembly line, based off my VIN number.

That’s awesome! I ordered mine on 10/30 so it will be interesting to see how far apart our builds might be. Anyone have an estimate on how many trucks are built each day?

According to Ford if you preorder before 1/2/2019 you’re “guaranteed” to get your truck before July 1st, 2019.

The trucks hitting lots in January will not be custom preordered trucks, but instead dealer allocated stock. If you want to custom order a truck and receive it right away you need to do so before 1/2/2019.

From what I’ve been told by my dealer and previous experience, dealers can order customer trucks as their own stock. Which is what mine has done. It will arrive at the same time as all their other orders.

That makes sense if your dealer doesn’t care about “giving away” a Ranger allocation for a preorder. My own dealer ordered my Ranger outside of their Retail allocation, so they will receive other trucks for the showroom.

It sucks I’ll have to wait a little longer but hopefully not too much.

My dad worked for GM and trucks were coming off the line 1 every 56 seconds. It may be similar with Ford

Nice Congrats!!! I ordered mine on 9/1 so I will be checking in with my dealer soon about my vin number.

custom ordered truck will not be seeing a vin number til after "ok to buy" has been achieved some time in January. what is nice about the program Ford is using for the ranger is the dealer does not have to have an allocation for a ranger to order a truck for a customer.

Nice! I’m in California so after it’s built it will still need to go on a 2,000 mile journey to me.

I have ordered many from local Ford and they usually take about 5-7 days from build date to arrive at my dealer in S Texas. They go rail to San Antonio and transport truck to dealer.
