I just ordered a engine cover not realizing it doesn't come with hardware, seriously? I was wondering if anyone has extra hardware laying around they might wanna give a good home too.

I just bought the engine cover and it came with the hardware in a small bag. My surprise was that the engine cover isn’t rigid plastic.

If you buy the "new" (read: twice the price) cover from a reputable Ford parts dealer, it is supposed to come with hardware.

Basically, expand poly foam. And reports claim it does somewhat reduce noise. Better yet, it fixes the problem of water entering the plug wells as seen on some Rangers.

It’s a softer yet shape holding foam. I didn’t do it to tame the noise but to keep Ford from disallowing any warranty issues with rusted spark plugs. They will try to deny the warranty claim if you “get the car washed too often” and don’t have the cover. I have mine washed 3x a week.

oh I may have jumped the gun. I did purchase through a dealer and should deliver in the next day or so. I came across a few youtube installs and install threads where i saw folks had to order hardware separate, Maybe those were ebay purchases or something along those lines.

Way back in 2020 if you got a cover from any Ford source you got just the cover. Hardware was a separate purchase and came in bags if 4. Have no idea why that was but I thought hardware was each so ordered 2 bags. Ya, you guessed it, plenty of them now.

I went to ACE Hardware and purchased 2 studs and finish nuts to install mine. Looks great.

I can't say it does anything for the noise, I suppose it must a little but I'd never be able to tell, It's fairly small.

If noise reduction is important, I'd check to see if you have side hood weatherstripping. Mine did not because it's a 2022 and was removed. I also didn't have hood bumpers.

The weatherstrip was much less than the cover.
