I picked up a bunch of badges for my kids to trade at Scouting events, and a portion of them were non-Scouting (as expected). I got a few of these and was wondering if anyone knew the story behind the patch.

The patch is probably like you would also find at swap meet booths, or online: "1,000 color embroidered patches for only $!.99!!!" It is the actual logo used by Ford ASSET, a program to get more people in automotive tech careers and increase employee retention in service departments. All major mfrs have similar programs. Two of the dealerships I worked at in the 90s sponsored ASSET students.
The program now has an increasing focus on BEV technology.

Probably not with the word, "Graduate." I can't knock the program, Some are GED kids that enroll through various grants. A good opportunity for kids and mid-lifers changing vocations to have a rewarding, decent paying career.
And I would be hesitant to have an 18 year old freshman doing much more than Quick Lube-level work on my $40,000 truck- gotta start somewhere.

Thanks, @P. A. Schilke & @Motorpsychology .

Chris, you're pretty much right about how I ended up with some. They were in a couple of the "Scout Grab Bags" that I got from Zone West. They're the leftover badges from orders made previously. The way that I understand it, it's cheaper & easier for them to make the badges in set numbers, so if a client orders less than that set (say, 280 instead of 300), then they'll just make the set number and the leftovers get tossed into these "grab bags". Since ZW does a lot of Scout & Guide crests, they offer grab bags catering towards those two groups, where 2/3s of your bag is going to be either Scouts or Guides-related (depending on what you choose), and the remaining 1/3 is miscellaneous stuff.
