Weight of factory wheels

Has anyone weighed their stock wheels or stock wheel/tire assembly? I’m searching for new wheels/tires and would like to find something very similar to minimize excess unsprung weight.

Tire rack lists the weight of the tire, so that part is easy. 34 or 36lbs each if i recall.

Wheels will take more effort. Call ford maybe?

Most AT 8-10 ply are 50lbs.......will need a very lightweight wheel to compensate.

Thanks. I have been comparing aftermarket wheels in an 18x9ish size and they are all over the place... seems like all the ones I like are like 35lbs and many of the other options are only 26-28!

I would guess the Form OEM wheels are in that same range. You will be adding weight with larger tires. Dont think there is a way around that.

When I went up in size with the Falkens on my 2014 F150, the weight went up and MPGs tanked.

I would expect this on any vehicle

I know there’s no way around it, just want to minimize it. I brought home my truck today so I’ll get them weighed myself soon!

Good to know. So with lighter wheels, a combo with bigger tires such as 265/70/R18 Toyos isn't much heavier (although impact on torque will be different given diameter and weight distribution).

Hankook ATM and wheel (18s) for the Lariat FX4 are 66 pounds.

TIre Rack says the 265/60 18" is 35lbs, putting the 18" wheels around 31lbs. Not much heavier than the 17s. Going to an offroad LT tire is about 55-60lbs, quite a bit heavier that the P-rated ATs that come with FX4. 18 or 17 inch rim is a wash compared to that.

That means the stock wheel (27lbs) plus the stock Dynapro tire (35lbs) is 62lbs.

I’m looking at Black Rhino Roku 17x9.5” (24lbs) plus P265/70R17 Toyo Open Country ATII (40lbs) for a total of 64lbs.

I think that would be a great upgrade to go to a 1.5” wider rim in a more aggressive fitment plus a 1” taller tire all for only 2lbs more per corner!

I guess I overlooked that a 265 tire would be pretty narrow on a 9.5” rim. Even if I went to a 285/70R17 it would still only be 8lbs over stock.

I like the way you think. Please post pics of this setup if you decide to go with it. I see that they have a 12 offset. Does that put them out wider than the stock rim?

Yes, they’d be about 2-1/2” out further than stock. It’ll be next spring before I have anything like that on my truck as I’ll be putting winter tires on the stock wheels soon!
