just like anything, the government lags behind...waaaay behind.

think road expansions and repairs. months if not years are wasted doing studies about whether this or that major highway needs to have more lanes to handle traffic....all while the user sits in gridlocked traffic as obvious proof there is a problem....then gridlocked further as construction starts down the road.

I can see this one of those lagging scenarios where transit users are left in the lurch waiting for transportation promised that hasnt come.

You'll see people piling on trains and buses like you do in India.
The new morning public transit commute

The-powers-that-be don't even hide their dirty intentions! Yet, we are all too attached to some fake reality to do anything about it. I just rewatched the first Matrix last night... Don't get me started Doc, I am DEEP DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE. The next decade is gunna get wild... I say we take our rangers off grid and start us a new society

Hold on just a sec while I adjust my tinfoil hat...

But our Rangers are cellularly connected so Big Bro could disable them with a flick of a switch.

Then again, they are connected through AT&T so your chances of being hit with a signal while off grid are somewhere between hitting the Powerball or winning America's Got Talent without a tragic backstory.

Edit: Now I have to find that cellular antenna and construct a faraday cage for it. Drat!!

And a tech tidbit...

If you find an old Apple Emac (NOT iMac) they have a terrific faraday cage inside them.

Oh yeah, Matrix 1 was great. Matrix 4 was Meh at best.

If I'm not mistaken the UK doesn't have as many (if any) remote areas like we do here. While I'm sure this has crossed their minds here, I doubt it would happen because we have way to many people living in the country.

***Here's you PSA warning for today***

Let's try and keep this as non political as we can or you know what'll happen. ?

I can see it happening in big metro areas.

I mean, if you've ever driven in New York City, you know what a PITA it is so most people park outside the city and taxi or train into it.

I can easily see somewhere like Los Angeles or San Francisco eventually banning private vehicles inside the city limit and forcing you to take the bus/train/e-taxi/ or whatever to get around once inside.

I’ve been to the UK more than once. There is plenty of rural areas all over the country. I can see this possibly taking a hold in city areas but places like Wales and Scotland will never go down without a fight! 20 paces and fire!!!

You're right those areas are so congested I could see them trying to do something there. Heck with everyone moving here now there's so much more traffic then there was just 4-5 years ago and no end it sight. It would make more sense fixing our infrastructure first and improving our public transportation and then let people decide for themselves what they want to do.

I'm not a mod, but you should know that common sense is just as verboten as politics...

It was the same where I lived back in MA. Small hill town with just over 8,000 people and the nearest city was Springfield. To get to the downtown area it was a good 40 minutes away and that's without traffic. If they did this kind of thing here we'd be better off taking a horse and buggy. ? ?

Lol they’re still trying to figure out how to tax the suns rays here. Probably end up being estimated usage because some are bigger hogs than others!

I don't believe it will be a federal mandate, I am leaning toward a type of subscription whereby you buy a monthly/ annual subscription. Large corps like, google, apple, amazon will take over the transportation industry selling the subscriptions for autonomous vehicles. No need for parking lots, in downtown areas, just think about how much land is used in the urban areas for parking alone. Will be govenments who start the ball rolling?, well we all know the answer to that, but I believe it will be large corps who keep the ball rolling.......
