Transmission Oil Pan Gasket Question

I changed the transmission fluid, filter and added a +2 quart Mishimoto pan. It is weeping a tiny bit of transmission fluid. I bought a new gasket at the local Ford dealer PN HL3Z-7A191-B. I looked it up and it should be correct. It looks different than the one in there and before I drop the fluid and pan to replace it, I want to be sure it is correct. The new one is steel with a small sealing ring along the inside. The size and shape matches up to the old pan. Has anyone else seen this?

I believe the Mosimoto pan does not use the OEM seal. It has a machined groove and an Oring seal the comes with the pan. Possibly why you have the weeping.

Someone who has used the Mosimoto pan will need to verify. I'm using the deep PPE pan, which uses the OEM seal.

I don't remember seeing a groove. Now you have me wondering.

I installed a mishimoto pan a few months ago. It does have an o-ring in a groove around the mounting face. Noticed mine was doing the same thing, just a tiny bit of weeping, rear passenger side corner. I re-torqued it a couple weeks ago and it’s been dry so far. Was thinking about adding a little bit of rtv the next time I change fluid, just for peace of mind. Cheers!

Mishimoto pan uses an O ring seal. Have dropped my pan twice and torqued to spec with sequence they give you with the pan. No leaks. I contacted Mishimoto after my last fluid and filter change and asked about a new o ring for the pan. They stated it was on back order til September. It was April when I contacted them. The o ring is $20 from them i believe. Just replacing it for peace of mind.

I was just reading their instructions, I should have looked a little closer when I did it. You did not use the OEM gasket, just the 0-ring? I don't remember even seeing the o-ring.

No gasket. The oring is orange if I remember. Just followed their instructions. Just be aware the spots they have the studs on the heat sheild side don't line up with the factory holes. I just moved those studs to line up with the factory holes on the heat sheild.
