Transmission issue??

Not sure what it is, but has anyone noticed if you just let your foot off the brake, the truck kind of surges forward? Over and over a few times. Very subtle.

On first starting up?

Are you waiting for the idle to drop?


With an automatic transmission a vehicle SHOULD move forward when releasing the brake.

Make sure you let the truck idle down after start and always "ease" your foot off the brake. These motors have a lot of torque.

lol. I know it should move forward. And most of the time it is on first startup.

I’ve always been bad about just getting in and throwing it in drive and taking off.

I'm thinking what you're experiencing is from the increased idle at startup.

Give it a second, or 30, for the truck to idle down and it won't "surge" as much.

This doesn't seem like an issue and more just a trait of this engine/transmission combo. I think I've had this happen to me but I don't really notice it, like others have said let it idle down and at some point even if it keeps happening you'll just get used to it.

I’ve always been bad about just getting in and throwing it in drive and taking off.

That's one of the worst things you can do. lol Let it warm up until you see the rpm's drop down and the surging will go away.

Any chance what your experiencing is the auto start/stop? takes a minute to get used to the truck engine stopping and then starting each time you stop.

Cold start......... Wait till idols down...... Guilty of this when in a hurry and know what you are experiencing....
