Well, my truck was finally delivered to my dealer last night. I set up an appointment with my Salesman in the morning but I snuck over after hours to get a sneak peak. It looked great except the dent and scratch on the hood. As you can see, the scratch is very deep and goes down to bare metal. They think it was a chain that dropped and hit it. I guess it was raining so they didn't notice it yesterday. It is in their body shop right now but I am bummed out that I had to deal with this after such a long wait. Of course they offered to order me a new one, haha

I wouldn't take delivery even after the wait. The whole hood will have to be painted
I'd take it if the hood is replaced with another black Ranger in stock.

A friend of mine who used to work in a dealership body shop says this happens more often than you would think.

That sucks though - you have to wait a few more days.... Hope they do a great job fixing it and you get it soon!

Yes I tried that. They refused to swap hoods because of the serial number stickers on the hoods.

True, I forgot about the VIN#.
I hope whatever you decide works out for you.

Its a pretty small area they will need to repaint but they are going to clear the whole hood. Either they do a good job or I will walk. i might need to find a "Safe Place" if that happens haha

Being that I haven’t taken delivery of MY truck yet this is like a gut punch. Not only that but I went to a dealership this past Sunday because I was itching to see one and there was a red one on the lot with about a 6” dent/crease right below the driver mirror, made me cringe.

It looks like it must happen more often than we know. I hope they get it repaired for you quickly and to your satisfaction! Have them throw in some oil changes while their at it. Good luck.

Thanks. If it makes you feel better the fit and finish were excellent and there wasn't any discoloration on the door cards. I also didn't notice any of the other manufacturing issues discussed here. The stereo sounded good too!

Sorry to hear your brand new truck was damaged before you even got it. That would make me want to punch people.

I worked at the local Toyota dealer for a few years, and it was unbelievable what happens to brand new vehicles, and is covered up by the dealership. I hope not all dealers are as shady as that specific dealership, but I wouldn't doubt if they are. Could you imagine buying a brand new vehicle, and the front bumper was damaged in transit, and all they did to repair it was have some guy come and air brush over the damage out of his van in the middle of the shop? I saw that happen more than once. Terrible.

I have tried to remain calm. I was wondering if since the body shop is fixing it would it hit a Carfax report?

It happened to my dad when he bought his new King Ranch F150. It got delivered after the sun went down and the tailgate had massive rub marks from what looked like straps. They had to repaint the whole tailgate. I can fully understand that things happen in transport and would absolutely give the dealer a chance to make it up to you.... as long as they go above and beyond. Nobody should have to see their new vehicle with damage like that right off the truck!
