Kinda off-topic but not really. But when you custom order a truck, does the dealer add any fees to the MSRP given by the custom build price/ford website?

Nope, not at all. Go in and negotiate your best price before you place the order. Heck, it is worth it to become eligible for X-Plan. With X-Plan the price and fees are set in stone. Plus you are still eligible for all public incentive plans.

X-Plan price for my truck ordered the way I want it is $44010 while MSRP is $45740. The X-Plan price is before all the incentives. I qualify for an additional $2750 off in incentive cash. My price before Title, Tags and Taxes is $41260.

Thank you for the insight and reply, Greg. I always wondered how custom orders worked. That sounds like an awesome deal with the x-plan!!

I would say it depends on the dealer. I ordered mine using XPlan pricing which allows you to know the exact price and also limits the documentation fees charged. Highly recommended....

The way X-Plan works is you're required to tell the dealer you are looking for the X-Plan price from the get go. In my case, I haven't yet been to the dealer's lot. I knew what I wanted from "building" the truck on the Ford.Com website. Once I had the build as I wanted it, I called my local dealer. I told them I wanted to place an order for a Ranger, emailed them the build from the website, we chatted about my build which was refined just a little with their help, and told them I was using X-Plan. They put the order sheet together and emailed it back to me for approval and signature. From there I sent paid a sizable downpayment by credit card (I had the cash, doing it by CC saved me a 90 min roundtrip to the dealer). From there I have been waiting since April. Estimated delivery in 9/2.

but do you have any paper work saying you and the dealer are doing x plan? I technically told the dealer I was using x-plan (but it was just mention in passing) when I put in an order for a maverick. I then emailed that I wanted to change the order to a ranger and got a order sheet with price break down but no reference to x-plan.
With the mach e it seemed like everyone was referencing x-plan after their cars had arrived at the dealer.

No, my paperwork is silent on the X-Plan but I have email and text messages discussing it. I asked for the X-Plan price but the dealer said they could tell me until they have the invoice price in hand when the truck arrives. I was told the $44010 was likely a few hundred high, but it was close.

Indeed, my 2020 Lariat was special ordered in August 2019, a few days after Ford released model year 2020 ordering information. I informed the dealer that I would be using the X-Plan program, he noted this fact on my order document. Some may say that you can get a better out the door price on a 2019 had I waited, impossible for me because I wanted a Super Cab and not a Super Crew in a specific color.

All my new vehicles have been special ordered, I want the vehicle spec'd out to my requirements, not what some sales manager thinks I should own and drive.

XPlan pricing is definitely the way to go, I'd do it again without hesitation

I think it is a true statement that you MIGHT be able to negotiate a better deal than XPlan, it makes it a very easy way to get a GOOD deal on a new vehicle. I guess some people like the negotiation part - me? No way - I just want to quickly negotiate a price, sign my paperwork and be done. XPlan allows you to do that, IMO.

Well said, the advantage with the XPlan program is that the entire transaction is transparent.

If there is anything I hate, it's dicking with a sales person over price, I wrenched at a Lincoln/Mercury agency for almost 14 years and saw and heard all the sales tactic BS.

Another thing I abhor is fried beef liver, there's gotta be something wrong with it if you gotta fry slices from a whole onion with it and smother it will 5 gallons of ketchup...lol

A great K-day meal at the firehouse. They could cook anything they wanted on my K-day but when I was working I was our cook (I hated shopping and KP so I had to contribute by being the cook) and we weren't having that shit under NO circumstances.

We used to rotate cooking duties at the station, my last assignment was at HFD's fireboat.
If ANYONE (myself included) served beef liver for chow, they'd find themselves in Honolulu Harbor...wearing concrete shoes...lol
