Hello,

I have a tear in the passenger side tire rod bushing that I discovered when changing out my front shocks. Since I only have 5k miles on my vehicle, would having the tie rod replaced be covered under warranty (even though I have aftermarket shocks I put in myself)?

Thank you for the feedback

For future reference I always spray all my rubber with 303 protectant... not that it will help with road damage but it may prevent wear and tear.

You will want to replace the damaged tie rod at some point soon. With a torn boot, it will allow dirt in there and wear prematurely.

It's easy to replace the outer tie rods and boot kits. With the outers just loosen the retaining nut and then mark the threaded shaft with paint or tape at the end of the tie rod and then remove it. Install the new one so it meets up with your mark and then tighten the nut back up and reinstall the tie rod to the knuckle and you're done. As long as you don't go past the same point where the old one was then there will be no need get it aligned again. The boot kit if needed is easy as well but you do need the band clamp tool to secure it unless you use a worm clamp.

Tie rods are only $47.00 and the boot kits if needed are only $17.20

Thanks for the feedback Bret. Fortunately, it is only the tie rod bushing that is torn. The boot is fine.

so about $150 for both sides NICE thank you for that link, and OEM too!, I had the yearly inspection last week and they failed me because of the passenger side tie rod end, I do not feel it or hear it and it tracks straight like new? (even with 285/75/17 and lifted) they said they would do it for $505 So I went to the dealer, I just turned 36.5k on my 21 so out of warranty they wanted $600
