I love Southern rock and have seen many of the bands when I younger. I never did see CDB but one of the best shows we saw was Molly Hatchet when they played a small venue in W Hartford, CT at a place called the Agora Ballroom. It was an old warehouse converted into a bar and they'd have many top bands there. Very up close and personal and a hell of a show! Darn I really miss those days and many today will never know how good it was to grow up back then!!

Here you can see all the bands that have played there over the years from The Ramones, NRBQ, Anthrax, Cheap Trick and even Joan Jett. lol

My hometown had a festival downtown every year from 1984-2012 that had between 3-7 stages in it. For $5 the first year and $12 the final year, you could see all the acts for that one price. Three days and nights of concerts. The link has the final 8 years of lineups. I've seen just about every major musical act that existed between 1984-2012 there at one point. And the grand total was less than what a single concert ticket goes for today. And keep in mind this is the list of headliners; dozens of smaller bands played every year. The music ran non-stop from 10AM until midnight all weekend. I was very spoiled when it comes to live music.

And take it for what it's worth, my hometown is where Cheap Trick is from so I've seen them probably 50 times because they open for any act that plays our indoor venues.

Wow, you were lucky, those are some great bands that played there! Aerosmith, Boston and J Geils were our hometown bands. Every Christmas The J Geils Band would come and play the Springfield Civic Center and Peter Wolf would come out for an encore dressed in a Santa suit drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels. lol Their second encore would be Stepenwolfs Born To Be Wild and he's come out riding a Harley with a topless girl wearing tight leather pants. lol Needless to say the crowd went wild and it was a great ending to their show. Nothing like growing up in the 80's!

My musical tastes have been described as eclectic, but I don't think that term is broad enough.

Not numbered but random:

Anything by Petra, with a possible favorite of You Are My Rock or Test Of Time
Anything by Mylon and Broken Heart, with a possible favorite of I Will Rejoice or Turn The Tables

And now I'll switch gears:

Amethystium: Autumn Interlude
Yanni: Within Attraction, Marching Season, or Keys To Imagination
Balligomingo: Sweet Allure (this always makes me think of a James Bond theme)
Smithereens: Behind The Wall Of Sleep or Only A Memory
Nightwish: For The Heart I Once Had or Nemo
Kansas: Relentless or Carry On Wayward Son
Billy Thorpe: Children Of The Sun
Styx: Blue Collar Man

My music tastes have not aged much since the 60's thru to the 90's. The odd cover from newer artists but as a whole not a fan of newer pop, rock (if you can still call it that) or the newer country.

Tom Petty - American Girl (Hard to pick just 1)
Streetheart- What Kind of Love is This or almost anything by them
Hank Williams Jr- Family Tradition
Billy Squire - In the Dark
Jason and the Scorchers - Ruby (Kenny Roger's and the First Addition Cover)
Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
Del Fuegos - Mary Don't Change
Eddie Vedder - The Waiting (Tom Petty Cover)
Red Rider - Cowboy's in Hong Kong
Rush - Spirit of Radio
Led Zepplin - Kazmir

I have many others depending on my mood I could interchange with.

Weird that I've not heard of that festival. I grew up in Schaumburg and we had Popular Creek, but they were bought out and closed in '94. I did see Metallica out in Rockford at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds, back in '98, though.

Thanx for all the replies. Some GREAT tracks and lots of memories in all your lists. Now I’ll have to educate myself as well.
Agreed…hard to pare a lifetime down to 10
It sure is! I have about 300 very favorite top songs, so it was very hard. Tomorrow, the top 10 may differ - except my number one song. That one will always be number one to me. :)

I was at that show - it was Lollapalooza. The Ramones, Screaming Trees, and Sound Garden also played. It was like a million degrees that day.

I remember Poplar Creek - I think they built the Sears Center over it? I saw The Beach Boys there with my parents and Bob Dylan when I was in high school.

In no order -

1 - Valerie (The Zutons)
2 - Badfish (Sublime)
3 - Free Bird (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
4 - Norwegian Wood (The Beatles)
5 - One (Metallica)
6 - Into The Mystic (Van Morrison)
7 - Ripple (The Grateful Dead)
8 - Across the Universe (particularly the Fiona Apple cover)
9 - SOB (Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats)
10 - American Music (The Violent Femmes)

If I can sneak a couple extras in -
A Pirate Looks At 40 (Originally Buffet but I like the Jack Johnson covers too - probably my all time favorite song)
Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town (Pearl Jam)
Santeria (Sublime)
Country Road (Paula Fuga & Jack Johnson)
Country Roads (John Denver)
