So... I needed my oil changed. Was having a hard time finding the time to get it to the dealer. (Still utilizing the dealer for routine maintenance for warranty adherence.)

They offer valet, so against my better judgement, I took advantage of them coming to work and picking up the truck. (You've probably already deduced what happened.)

They brought it back to my work and parked it in the parking lot.

I went out 30 minutes later to move it to a safe area and to my surprise there was a big 'ol scrape on the rear quarter panel and tail light .

Shaking, I immediately called the dealer.

They didn't dispute that it happened on their watch, they apologized and said they would take care of it. They said it must have happened in their parking lot. (...whatever)

I'd like the whole side replaced, but am not familiar with that would entail.

They will most likely repaint the quarter panel. Which I guess I'm okay with, IF they can get it back to where I can't even notice there was a repair AND guarantee it will last as long as the factory paint.

As far as I can tell, it's just scraped. That pic is just behind the wheel. There's more toward the tail light. But the pic is the worst one.
If it's not dented, it should be a pretty easy fix.

You had to call them? What a crap dealer. File a complaint with Ford regardless of if they fix it or not.

I had a similar incident with one of my cars. The body shop did an excellent job (re-applied the clear coat too) and even after 8 years you couldn't tell that side had been re-painted. The key is to have the work done by a really good paint & body shop.

Are you sure it is your paint that is scratched or is that paint or say PVC from a door guard that rubbed onto your paint? FWIW, if it is rubbed onto your paint, a magic eraser will get that off. Be light and careful though to just check before getting too heavily into removing it, magic eraser can scratch.

id wash the truck and then try those scrape spots with a light polishing compound and see what it does. I bet a lot of that will come off pretty easy. I agree the dealer should pay for any damages but if it was my truck i would not want them driving it etc again. cant trust em.

Scratching your truck aside, you do NOT have to bring your truck to the dealer to maintain your warranty. There are laws against that.

No such thing. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act covers it, just keep receipts and annotate it in the owners manual.

The scratches are all the way through the paint. A blind person could read it.
