Has anybody had any luck changing the themes on the radio? I was able to change the splash screen with forscan. Watched several different videos on changing the theme/style. One was through the truck radio using the test settings and the other through forscan. Although, both options were on a F150. I wouldn't think the SYNC systems would be that different between vehicles but maybe it is.

Hi Bob,

Outside my Mechanical Engineering background, but my suspicion is that the basic Sync architecture is likely the same, but updates are vehicle specific so I would imagine you might have to use Forscan like others have for the splash screen and likely themes too. JMO...

UofM Engineer likely knows the answer but he seems to be MIA...probably as Ford is abandoning Sync for Google based architecture...

There's a whole ton of videos on using Forscan to change the themes on the Ranger (any Sync 3 vehicle).

I’ve done that and nothing changed. I’ve also watched videos where they changed it through the internal test but that didn’t work either. I did get the splash screen to change without any problems. Guess I will try some more

I agree seems like all the Ford ones were the same and all the Lincoln ones were all the same. I'm running a Lincoln one in night mode all the time. I like the graphics better. The Ford blue was just too bright.

I will look for my notebook where I documented what I did. I believe I has to change my vehicle type to "Lincoln" in the same forescan page that I choose this theme. Without that it would not stick.

Yeah you need to change the "Brand" to Lincoln from Ford to get it to stick.

Themes? I just have an XL with a non-touch screen. So ...

... in order for me to update the theme, I need to swap that screen out for this mind-blowing upgrade. =D

Not a boomer but damn do I miss basic radios like this.


My favorite was the basic delphi radios in GM trucks/suvs from mid 90s to early 2000s.

Before "headunits" became a thing.
