We went on a sunset dinner cruise last night and there was a mule deer at the edge of the water. Captain said they could swim really good which makes sense as this little island was out in the middle of the lake.

The P3s operated out of the Naval Air Station at Barbers Point for years but the military shut it down and moved the P3s to the Marine Corps Air Station at Kaneohe. I don't know what year that happened. I do know that he had then a very bad drive to and from Makakilo where he lived to Kaneohe on H1 and H3.

Edit:

I just checked Google Earth and can see 9 P3s on the tarmac but the picture is dated Dec. 2015.

The bulk of the P-3 squadrons shifted homeport from Kaneohe to NAS Whidbey Island, WA (NASWI) a couple years ago. I flew on P-3s/EP-3Es for 10 years out of NASWI.

Thank You. I still plan to make it to the "Dragon" in the Ranger one day. It is such a fun road to drive and absolutely beautiful scenery in the Smokey mountains.
