I did pretty much the same, only with black. I didn’t leave any chrome though.

LOOKS GREAT! Did you use vinyl on the rear camera base as well? I left just a little chrome around the edges so it will match another modification that I have planned for the near future that has a red and a slight amount of chrome involved in it

After applying the magnetic and red decals on the front rear oval emblems, I decided to take it a but further and cover the bulk of the camera base in white vinyl leaving the lower level chrome as contrast. I'm quite pleased with the results. You'll have to pardon the rain as I did not have time to request a forecast change

Not for me it is the bomb...love the Ranger Grill look and the red lettering...

I actually masked and rattle canned the base of the emblem. Of course I taped over the rear camera and left it there for a couple days before I removed it.

It appears the vinyl letters in the Ford logo are slightly offset from the underlying badge. Is that just an artifact of the photo?

I worked on that for over an hour and could not get them to line up.

Looks nice either way.
I am thinking of doing similar so am just looking at options based on what everyone else has done-
I spoke with an individual that I know who is in the graphics business and this was his answer as to why the Ford script in our case or why Chevrolet bow tie decals and overlays etc, do not match the contour directly: "copyright infringement is a real thing and if you can steer far enough away from the OE design by changing the font and shape while retaining the enough appearance of the intended look to satisfy your customer, most corporations will not pursue small companies like mine" He went on to say: "the gained exposure of the name brand vs the negative feedback from the general public towards seeking payment from small businesses for the usage of their material, far outweighs the time and monies invested in a copyright suite"
Makes sense to me.

That could be a reason. I was told years ago it has to be a 25% difference from the original. You know the logo comes in several pieces and they match up at all. To solve that you’d have to glue it, bonds and sand it.

Hey Kev,
Did you request any vinyl color samples from tvd?
Looking to order a set for my dash and would like to somehow complement the exterior color, Rapid Red Metallic.
Thanks!

Hey Jeff I went with Cardinal Red for the dash and matte black for the tailgate. I haven't installed either yet so no pics for you. My wife, a painter, thought the cardinal red would compliment the rapid red exterior color the best and I thought the red would give a nice pop to the magnetic dash trim.

Rich did you just mask, clean, and spray or was there other prep work that you did? How many coats of paint did you do? I would like to change my chrome trim bits to black and I am trying to figure out the best way that I want to tackle it.

Let me clarify this more. I masked off the base of the rear ford emblem and the side XLT emblems. The grill and the tail gate are vinyl I bought online.

After trying 3 different reds from TVDVINYL I settled on the Cardinal Red.
Love it!
