Looking for some help here. Was driving down the highway today and started to hear a clicking coming from the glovebox area of the car...immediately after the car started to present different errors/messages across the dashboard.
  • Terrain Management System Fault
  • System off to save battery - Please turn ignition off or start engine
  • Wipers started on full speed
  • ....
All this stuff started happening while going 80mph . Pulled off the highway re-started the car and had no issues the rest of my hour long ride home.

Anybody ever seen this before? My truck is a 2021 Lariat bought in October with only 8k miles. Appreciate any help, I took some photos from other posts with the same messages I was receiving...

Have the rear tail light harness inpected. It's on the passenger side just above the exhaust pipe. Tail light harness plugs into the body harness and this is the one you need to inpect.

There is either a TSB or recall on it. If it's loose or has issues or water retention, it can and will load up the Can-bus and throw all kinds of weird faults. Ask me how I know??

Thanks. I just took a look at didnt see anything abnormal despite it being caked with some dirt and mud.

Do you happen to have a link or picture of the TSB/recall information?

I’m sure it threw codes and they’re stored. Have a look at what they are. Could be many different things. Dealer will do the same.

Finally got it to the dealer since it is under warranty - had a hell of a time getting an appointment here in Denver, that is a whole other story. While I can't reproduce it the technician sees errors relating to low battery voltage.

He thinks me keeping my phone charger cord plugged in, not driving it all that much (mainly a weekend mountains car) drains the battery slowly and has something to do with it ?‍♂

Anyone ever heard of this issue? Phone charger cord drains the battery causing other wild issues? Any other threads on this...search hasn't given me any luck.

Seeing somethings with Battery Management Reset.....thoughts?

Hi PV,

A weak battery likely will give you strange behavior and I recommend your tech do a load test on your battery. I agree with the dealer tech to not leave your charger plugged in. Is this in the dash or the 120V inverter? The electrical system doesn't stay hot all the time.

Best,
Phil

For a phone charger I use a plug in that tells me battery voltage and charging voltage, Amazon. The accessory point is energized and shows battery resting voltage when key on, shows charging voltage when engine is running. I leave it in all the time, key off no voltage.
For you with push button start, does the fob in vehicle situation turn on the ignition? If your wife gets mad and throws the fob out the window does the engine stop? LOL so many ways for all those electric nanny gadgets to fail.

You didnt see anything abnormal, just caked with mud. LOL

Finally got a video of it when I was driving down the road.

Battery message on the entertainment screen. Front Camera disabled on the dashboard which then turned into a Battery Charging System Service Now message with a red battery icon. Did this for about 3 minutes and then went away...clicking noise from the glove compartment the whole time.

Taking it to the dealer tomorrow as it is under warranty sigh 10k miles...

Kinda reminds me of Morse code, but likely the bcm or a related module with bad connection or failing.

Yea that is what im thinking. Hoping the stored codes can tell the dealer something because I can't recreate the issue on demand.

Just got it back from the dealer.

Apparently, Diagnostic test stated concern, with multiple U3003 codes in IPMA, CCM, DSP, and P0563 in PCM. The tech noticed that the Negative Battery Clamp could be moved easily, it was tightened and they checked the battery state of the charge in BCM and it was low 61%. Did BCM reset and verified the charging system was working...drove it for 22 miles and things looked good...

Could it be that all this chaos was because of a loose battery connection? We'll see...

Reviving this old thread to see if OP ever confirmed what the problem was. I’m having almost the exact same issue with my truck now.

I had a single momentary low battery warning flash for an instant on the screen several weeks ago when entering the truck. Wife saw it flash for an instant. I tested the battery multiple times and it measured perfectly healthy.

I did notice a very slight amount of corrosion on my negative battery terminal right at the base of the connection. Cleaned up the post and added a corrosion inhibitor, then reinstalled the cable.

No momentary flashing message since.

I have a ScanGauge 3 arriving today. Among the items that I will be monitoring while driving are OIl. Coolant, and Transmission fluid temps, as well as charging system / battery voltage.
