I am new to this Grandpa gig, as the first grandkid just turned 20 months. He was spending the night with us, and he spied me checking the tire air pressure for the Ranger. I showed him how the valve stem cap screwed off and on as I finished the 3rd tire. Repeated it on the 4th tire and asked him to hold the cap. Well that lasted about 10 seconds as he carefully set the cap on the ground and walked back over to my wife.
This morning my wife drove him over to the other Grandparents house. She got him out of the car seat and as they started walking towards their house, he stopped and began removing the valve stem cap from one of the tires on her Forester.
Maybe he knew there is a tire pressure gauge in the glove box?

Enjoy them when they are young as they get in their teens, they want less to do with the old people for a few years. Then they come back around to enjoying time with you. Our granddaughter enjoyed 2 week road trips with us until she got to be a teenager then her friends became more important to her. Now as she gets older is coming back around to wanting to spend time with us.

My 10 year old granddaughter has always had to have a toy truck just like her Papa's, 2 different F150's and even the Ranger I got 4 months ago. She even has her own set of mini craftsman wrenches she would work on her truck while I worked on mine. It was always great having my little buddy right there working with me. But I do fear the writing is on the wall as her friends take on a more important role. I can now just wait for the time she comes back to her Papa. But I will be waiting for her.
