Tacoma Xtracab, rear 'doors' don't open

But looking at the seatbacks, they are probably too upright to put a car seat back there, like a Ranger Scab

Car seat ? If I ever start hauling kids around, it will be for profit , pile em up like cord wood back there, car seats would kill the bottom line ...

Boy! And I thought the new Frontiers were ugly. 6G Rangers are getting better looking as other makers introduce there new line up.
+1 for the Tacoma storage, -2 for access, -5 for looks.

When did cool 2 door cars and trucks (especially supercabs , they SCREAM coolness) become uncool ? Well , they didn't, the freaking people have/are ?, looks like I've already bought my last truck and I'm am FINE with that , bury me in the damn thing when I die , if it craps out before me , ill save it as my casket...
No more SuperCabs , kinda says it all for the future... THATS IT !!! I AM WRITING A SONG TO CELEBRATE THE AWSOMENESS OF SUPERCABS!!! (May take a few days for proper inspiration, I'm to mad ? right now and it would come out Death Metal or Rage Against the Machine most likely, need something more uplifting I think ?)

I had an old Subaru Brat in the 80's, tiny cab, tiny bed but it worked for the minimal hauling I needed. In the 90's I bought a Toyota extended cab 4x4, and the extra space was awesome for camping stuff. At the time I didn't know any better, but when the opening rear doors came out I knew that would be the berries. I kept that truck for 25 years as my second ride, for hunting, camping, hauling.

3 years ago I bought the Ranger, and those swinging doors are outstanding for using that rear space. Guess it will be my last truck, or maybe I'll get a Maverick in the years to come, unless Ford makes a scab hybrid Ranger. Maybe the safety regulations in other countries aren't as stringent so the scab makes sense. Total bummer if they never bring it here.

My Dad is from Poca/Paradise. Mother from Huntington, Wayne county. Same... head of the hollers.

I sort of disagree that people buy a scab because it's cheap.

I wasn't saying that, I have a scab. I'm saying this new Tacoma model reeks of cheapness. My 2020 Ranger scab doesn't.

The full size trucks still have single and crew cabs at least. If I had to buy in 2024 I'd probably take a hard look at the single cab F150 with the 6 1/2" bed.

ADDED: Truth be told, some things happened at my job and after thinking about it for about 2 minutes I decided to retire in the next 2 months, after I get some medical stuff squared away that I need my insurance for. When that happens, we're going to move to our retirement property and I would get by with an old farm use truck. But, I'll probably just keep the Ranger forever.

Still makes me mad the directions the manufacturers are going.

Here's a Toyo engineer talking about the truck, he addresses the cab at around 8min mark. It's the same fluff talked about in the article linked by MountainGoat. Yes, the fold down front seat backs help, but not much.
