I do quite a bit of machining of all kinds of materials for my profession. I can say with certainty units like this are suited for plastics and nonferrous metals. As soon as you attempt to do any kind of steel or exotic materials is where they face plant. They just don’t have the rigidity necessary to do any kind of precision work. The cutters usually get destroyed trying because of just this.

but it does not say anything about working with steel so it would be about useless for me....
None of the toy ones will work properly with steel. That's why you step up to their production models for a couple more dollars. I have a $200 3018 that is good for aluminum. I actually find my cnc plasma table more useful for most of my steel projects. Your paying mostly for the fool proof controller on the toys.

I looked at the website, and I'm not sure if it's me, but they show a lot of pictures that look like they are generated vs actual pics of an actual physical machine.... ?‍♂

YANKO looks like a kickstarter so you may never see a machine if you get on the list.
