Hey All!

Quick question for those of you that have installed an aftermarket sub and amp.

Recently purchased and installed:

- Hertz HCP1D
- Rockford Fosgate Punch P1 10" 4 ohm SVC
- power & ground wires are 4 AWG w/ 60A in-line fuse on power

I haven't done anything to the factory stereo, and I used the rear speaker wires as the hi-level input for the amp, as this amp has a built-in line converter.

But here's my problem, upon listening to the new sub, it's very quiet and is not producing what it should, I made sure the "driver seat" setting for sound and the speed compensation were both turned off in the EQ settings, and even with the BASS setting turned all the way up, the speakers are overpowering the sub!

I double checked to make sure my wiring is proper, and I don't have any loose connections (including ground, I sanded to bare-metal). Really disheartening to know that I've spent some hard earned $$$ to be disappointed with the end result, I've read over every forum for a sub install, and I may try the Forscan setting that changes the low-level settings, but I'd like to see if anyone is also having issues with this.

turn up the level on the amp?
Level is turned all the way up, and so is bass boost, without either the sub barely moves. I'm going to check and make sure I didn't wire the speaker-in connections backwards by accident, may be just a phasing issue as well. Any other ideas by chance?

*EDIT*

Figured it out, my mistake.

Crossed the wires on the driver-side rear speakers going into the amp.

in the end I'm going from -++- to +-+-, reverse polarity screwed me!

My own fault, the joys of wiring without a test light, now to get rid of the fake engine sound because that is apparent on the sub now.

And it now sounds?
Like a dream, removed the pumped-in audio and tuned the gain with a multimeter. Man how much a sub changes things. Fits under the seat perfectly, Love how it's turning out!

Hopefully you were able to disable the fake engine rumble. It runs any decent audio in our Rangers.

Yes forscan to get rid of the fake engine noise but also I understand there is a forscan setting for the audio you might want to look at. I have seen that mentioned in other threads.
