Anyone traveling to Sedona the place we're staying at is really nice and well worth the 15 minute drive out to Sedona. This is our 4th time staying here and it's always quiet and the staff are super nice and friendly. There's quite a bit to do right in downtown Cottonwood and a lot go good restaurants too. We went to Concho's Mexican restaurant last night. It's a family owned place and they have really great food there. Sorry Steve @IdahoRanger no pics of the Chimmy we were so hungry I forgot to take them. lol

We got a 1st floor unit this time which I normally don't like because you can hear everyone above you. Luckily the people upstairs were nice and quiet and it's a nice view of the mountains.

There's a large fire pit undercover to the right and several bbq grills to the left. There's a gym, game room, pool and hot tub on the other side of the far building.

Very nice Dave. Too bad I had to cancel my trip last year to Sedona. It's on my bucket list still. Maybe when I come down next year? Have you ever driven to the bottom of the Grand Canyon via Peach Springs off of Rt 66? That I want to do for sure some time. Enjoy your trip!!

We’re heading up to Sedona today for the week and have been looking forward to this for a while. We’ve been there dozens of times and have made day trips there when we lived in Goodyear and it’s one of our favorite places to go and we’re lucky to have it right in our area. It was only a 90 minute drive from our house in Goodyear but now it’s doubled which still isn’t too bad and well worth it to be living down where we are now. There's just something special about the Red Rocks there and they say there's a Vortex which is supposed to give you some kind of spiritual healing. All I know is I do feel way more relaxed there and not just because we're on vacation. lol

We stay at The Highlands Resort which is on a golf course just outside of Sedona in Cornville/Cottonwood because we can get a whole condo for a week for what it would cost for only 2 nights in Sedona and will only be 15 minutes away. Another bonus is that it has a really nice small downtown area with restaurants, wineries & shops for of course you know who.🙄 lol There’s some nice off roading trails there which I hope to get out on along with a couple days of hiking and I’m sure we’ll do a day trip up to Flagstaff which is only about 45 minutes away. Pictures to come later.

One thing we'll be doing this time that we haven't done yet is we’re going to take the Verde Canyon Railroad on Thursday. It takes you on a 4 hour trip through the mountains and along the river which takes you through a 734’ long tunnel.

Enjoy! I rented a house there in West Sedona over Christmas/New Year’s this past year and it was 10 minute walk to everything, fabulous time!

No! lol

I did it the last time we were here with my '19 (about 4 years ago) and that trail is so beat up now I think one of my kidneys is still up there. I was talking with a guy yesterday who use to drive for the Safari Jeep Tours and he said they haven't groomed/fixed that trail in years and it's really bad now.
LOL! I Back in the mid-90's I used to own a 1988 2-door S-10 Blazer 4x4. I remember taking it down Schnebly Hill Rd from Sedona to I-17 and it was uneventful. How that trail has deteriorated over the years...

There is no way I would take my Ranger down it now, but I would seriously consider driving it with my Polaris RZR 900.

We've been to the GC 4 times and have never been to the bottom yet. We were just talking about that today (going to the bottom of the GC) and will probably do another trip in the fall and try to do it then. We did take the Grand Canyon Express train ride a few years ago from Williams and that was a really nice ride. I heard the winter one around Christmas is awesome as they have a large Santas workshop set up along the route.

Thanks Joe. Glad you had a great time and West Sedona is a really nice area with better hiking IMHO.

We've never been here during the winter but want to come and spend the holidays one year. It's really a great area and even though we've been here a dozen times it never gets old seeing the red rocks.

We just went up to Sedona and spent the day hanging around town. I did my good deed for the day and let Annie shop (figured I'd better get it out of the way) had lunch and went on a sunset Jeep tour out to 7 canyons. There were 10 of us and we had a great time and got to watch the sunset over the red rocks.

Uptown Sedona looking west. It wasn't crowded thee at all which was nice because it's usually packed with people bumping into each other.

Standing on the upper floor you get a great view of Snoopy Rock. He's laying on his back with his front & rear paws sticking up. lol

On the Jeep tour we went out to this old shack (Van Deren Cabin) built around 1924 which was a place they use to stock whiskey barrels.

I've only had Thai food a couple of times and it was years ago but really liked it. After we stopped in Downtown Sedona at Fresh & Natural Thai Kitchen and got the Pad Thai which was very good. One thing I love about Thai food is it's very filling but doesn't leave you all stuffed and bloated like the Mexican food we had the night before.

Funny thing is that there's a McDonalds in Downtown Sedona and they have blue arches on their sign. I guess the only way they could get a permit here was they had to agree to use the approved colors from the housing board and yellow wasn't one of them. lol

You had me at “whiskey barrels”. 😜

It looks like you two are having fun and making the most of it.

Maybe it’s just me but that Gladiator is putting out serious Boston Amphibious Duck Tour vibes.

They had several different tours you could take and this seemed like the most interesting one. We had a great driver and he pointed out a lot of different things along the way and told us about the history of Sedona and how it was under water millions of years ago. You can see the white water lines on the rocks where the water receded over the years. Pretty cool stuff!

Yeah I never went on one of the Duck boat tours but heard they were pretty fun.

Nice!! I'm hoping to do it on Friday morning and hopefully the lines aren't too long. I've seen where there's been 1hr+ waits just to cross the bridge.
