I honestly can't remeber where I ordered these or what brand they are, but in less than 2 years they are already starting to rust. It looks obvious that where ever road debris has removed the paint they rust. Today I went out with a wire brush and touched them up with some heavy duty Rustoleum.

I would think it’s kind of inevitable they would rust just because they are low enough that even mud flaps or guards wouldn’t help. Maybe a powder coating or something similiar would help long term?

I have the same ones. I just picked up some mudflaps and am planning on doing some bed coatings on the brackets.
I have mud flaps, and the brackets just behind the front wheels aren't too bad. I was also thinking some type of longer lasting coating. Until warmer weather I figured Rustoleum is better than nothing. I also painted the mounting hardware. Maybe not the best option, but it's February, just wanted to get something on there.

A bed liner or rubberized coating will go a long way. Just make sure you clean up the rust first or else it'll just rot under the coating...
