Hi all! My 2019 Ranger being a pain again the reverse cam stopped working - no pic coming through just messg contact dealer to fix. Ford said cam is fine must be broken wire somewhere and need couple of days to explore wiring (at 140 an hr!). Also noticed since the rear fog lamp stopped working too but everything else working fine, any ideas?.?

As Rangerbill is asking, another member had a very similar issue.
Now I am assuming that the ROW Rear Fogs are most likely using the same circuit as the US Version (as License Plate) lights

There is allot of detailed T/Shoot info here and a good chance that the issue MAY be at this spot, so by using the T/Shoot steps here, may help in pinpointing the issue down.

Note: We do not have access to the ROW Ranger manuals or diagrams, so the basic wiring is the same but changes with the pinouts (sometimes)

Hi Thanks to @airline tech and @RangerBill for sharing the thread on rear back up cam problem – an awesome (and successful) fault find which will undoubtedly help lots of Ranger folk including me!

So my problem is quite similar only I don’t have ford scanning ability or am that clever to be able to resolve as above. Anyhow, Ive summarised where i'm up to below if anyone can suggest further avenues before I end up at the dealer.

Problem: 2019my Ranger Wildtrack. Rear back cam has no picture just messg ā€˜not available contact dealer’
Ranger dash messg.webp

Took to dealer and they advised camera is fine, must be problem with wiring and need 2 days to investigate. Presume they plugged in and read any codes etc. They spent 1.5hrs on it.

I got it home and checked basics and discovered rear fog lamp not working either, otherwise everything else is working. So following some of the advice from the previous thread;

At Camera connector
Ignition on, select reverse, on BR-YE have 12V batt voltage
Ignition off, BK wire has 0 ohms to ground. So that all seems ok.

At RH rear fog light connector (bulb good, connector good, fit good), lights on, 0.1v GN-YE wire, 0 ohms to ground BK wire. So no power.

Noticed no illumination on dash when I press rear fog lamp switch (there is when front on), tried another headlight switch unit and was the same so not switch related. No power – fuse?

I’ve pulled most if not all the connectors on the back loom underneath tub (from side rail/rear axle) back and all where clean and tight with no damaged pins. Not checked continuity as yet and probably need a more systematic check with the MM.

Realize without some codes might be difficult to take further but any specific fuses to check? Or continuity tests I could do?

I think the fog lamp and camera are related problems (could be wrong) but is there a common feed these share?

Check the camera connector for power (12volts) and ground using a volt/ohmmeter. In the other post referenced, check to see if the wiring diagrams posted are similar to your truck's wiring. I don't have access to the UK version of the diagram. If you have no power or a ground connection is missing, work back through the wiring harness to the preceding connector and look for the proper colored wire that feeds the camera.

I think the Rear Camera is fine, the issue is with the Reverse Lights (US) or if I am correct (Rear Fogs) (ROW).
Either the BCM has killed the circuit for protection or a wiring issue.
The Rear Camera is not seeing power on the (reverse circuit) and that is the trigger (on) for the camera to operate.
trigger
The HS1 Can Bus, sends the signal and is the trigger when the (Reverse Lights) are powered on.
So, I would focus on the (Rear Fog/Reverse Lights) circuit IF they trigger on like the US Version and your Rear Fogs are actually Reverse Lights in the US.

I know you mentioned a Rear Fog switch, we do not have that - but I am thinking the trigger logic is the same basic operation to get the camera to operate.

With the rear fog light bulb(s) removed, and the truck and lights off, check the GN-YE power feed wire to ground with the ohmmeter to see if there is a short to ground. Check with the rear fog lamp switch on and off.

2019 Ranger Lariat, purchased new., 36310 on the odometer. The only warranty issue was oil/air separator replaced because it was leaking and replaced with an updated unit.

Yesterday, while out and about the rear camera stopped working. Blue lines running through it, other times just black screen. The + sign & vehicle image still there as well as check surroundings msg. This was all day while out.

Today, same problem but per another post here, I checked that the backup lights were on, the plate lights were on (all led) back up sensors were working. I then put truck in drive and the front sensors were working.

Then put truck in park. I decided to try reverse again, and the camera came on as it should. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Yesterday, I Also stopped the Ford dealer here in Franklin, NC. Got an appointment for Sept 24. I will keep that appoint but if the camera continues functioning, I will cancel it as we depart the mountains back to FL Oct 18 and I don't want to be told they must order parts. I'd rather deal with Lakeland Ford.

FYI, I have the Ford CSP extended warranty.
