I installed this to fold the mirrors when I lock the truck and unfold when I unlock the truck. All looked and worked great at first. Occasionally now the mirrors are folding when I shut off the motor then when I open the door the mirrors unfold.. Redtek said to disconnect the power for a few minutes which I did. I was hopeful but yesterday it happened again. My question, is has anyone else experienced this?

I do not have that installed but will try to lend some T-Shoot Options.

Sounds like it's out of sync with the locking system, I do not know how that module is wired to the truck without looking at the install instructions.
But if you have spliced into the wires for the (Lock/Unlock) it may be possible that they are touching each other and when the door opens unlock (it back feeds) the lock circuit.
So, check your connections and reseat the connectors you used to install.

It is possible that the module is doing this internally (as well)

Ensure that the Door Locking system - Works Normally along with the Auto-Lock system that locks the doors when you start driving.

1. Try cycling the - Auto Lock & Auto Unlock - Selection Box in the IPC Menu screen
2. Try Cycling the (Folding Switch)
3. Try Cycling the (Door Lock) Switch Itself

Since it is triggered by the door lock circuit, the Auto Unlock triggers when the engine is shut off and the door opens. I believe that the module got out of sync with that circuit.

Was there any kind of programming (to set the module up? or any jumper/ dip switches on the module that could be (customized)?

Do you possibly have the mirror fold button pressed in on the dash?

The module is wired to the lock wire , the unlock wire and a power wire.
The door lock works like it always has, they lock while driving and unlock when you ooen the door.
There is no programming of the module, no dip switches just the three wires to connect.
I have cycled the mirror fold switch several times and it works as it should.

As I said it happens intermittently.

Thanks for the response. Airlinetec.

I had the Redtek previously, but had it fold when I locked the Ranger and unfold when I started it. It worked great with the stock mirrors and I never had the issue you are describing.

DO NOT use this module if you have or plan to get the Clearview mirrors. It worked three or four times after I installed them and then the magic smoke was released from the Redtek module. They have a higher current draw than stock mirrors.

That was the end of that feature :crying:

The Clearview mirrors have worked great since I removed the module and reconnected everything back to factory.

I have no plans to change from the factory mirrors.

Ok, I think I see a possible issue, now understand that both the Lock/Unlock circuits are pulsed with power (via the Lock/Unlock Relays)

If I am correct:
By your description you have a bad (tap) connection on the (Locking) Wire (Grey/Brown)
So, its intermittently only seeing the power (pulse) on the unlock circuit and cycling the mirror.

I would redo both Taps - but suspect the (Locking) is the issue.

Connections are secure.

I think i solved why it does it occassionally. If I park then move the truck sightly in the parking space it does not automatically unlock when shutting off the engine because the truck has not moved at more than four mph after the inital stop so the auto-unlock does not happen. I will test it tomorrow.

If you are using the Owner's Manual - Ops - Keep In mind that the Proof-Readers sometimes miss how things actually operate.
Per, the Owner's Manual - leads to operation- if you come to a stop (stoplight) the doors will Auto Unlock with the Engine Running. - That does not happen

So, if I understand what you are saying.

You pull into the parking space - stop and decide to inch a litter farther into the parking space.

1. You have not shut off the engine - So Auto Unlock (all-doors) - will not trigger until the engine is shut off.
2. You have not - opened any door - with the Engine Running this trigger's -Auto-Unlock. via the interior handle.

3. The only possible - wrench is -are you going into (PARK) and then back to (Drive) to move the truck forward?

Here is the Service Manual - Ops

Autolock

The autolock feature locks all of the doors after all of the following have occurred:

  • All the doors are closed.
  • The ignition is on.
  • The vehicle is shifted into any gear to put the vehicle in motion.
  • The vehicle attains a speed greater than 20 km/h (12.4 mph)
The auto lock feature activates again during the same ignition cycle when all of the following have occurred:

  • The vehicle speed is reduced to less than 15 km/h (9.3 mph)
  • A door is opened and then closed.
  • The vehicle attains a speed greater than 20 km/h (12.4 mph)
Auto-Unlock

NOTE:
The doors do not auto-unlock if the vehicle has been electronically locked before the driver door is manually unlocked.

The auto-unlock feature unlocks all of the doors when all of the following conditions have been met:

  • All the doors are closed and locked.
  • The ignition was on.
  • The vehicle was shifted out of park and a speed greater than 20 km/h (12.4 mph) was achieved.
  • The vehicle has come to a stop.
  • The ignition transitions to accessory or off and, within 10 minutes, the driver door is opened.
The auto-unlock feature can be enabled/disabled through the message center.
