Hello,

I've been going thru the '23 ranger build site in prep for '24.

I notice that co-pilot 360 includes rear view camera, but isn't it mandated to have rear view cameras in newly made vehicles as of '18 or something?

do I have to get CP360 if I want the rear view camera? how does it work? what happens if I order barebone?

It looks like ordering the XL with the 101A package gets you the 360 co pilot. Just order the 100A Equipment Group.

If you were interested in a 2023 Ranger the answer to your last question is you would get this backup camera. You are correct they are required in all new vehicles and RedDakooter is correct that all Rangers have a backup camera.

As I see you're shopping for a 2024 - We don't have an answer to that question yet. The only 6G Rangers I've seen are overseas models and have a widescreen display for the gauges and a tall touch screen in the center cluster. Not sure what their plans for XL trims are on the 2024. But certainly it will have a backup camera no matter what.

100A camera is in the rear view mirror. The "24 Ranger will have far superior infotainment center. At this point, I'd wait.

The rearview camera is mandatory standard equipment on all vehicles. You do not have to order an upgrade to get it. They describe it some places as being an option, but that's just feel good marketing speak. I think you may be out of luck ordering a 2023, the order bank has closed AFIK. Contact your salesperson/dealer for latest info, Ford recently closed off many insider channels, so I'm out in the cold on some stuff, don'cha know. @Azhang253 makes s good point; the 2024 order bank should open in May- Job 1 has been pushed back to 7/10/22, (not confirmed).
Note that you need the 101A for remote tailgate, cruise control +++, that you might think are standard.
Here's your homework assignment:

100% I ordered a 100A because at the time, the 101A was on commodity hold, and the XLT is just too expensive to get a bottom barrel infotainment center and halogen headlamps. I accept the fact that I will need to install a Rostra cruise control module and at some point will probably get annoyed and replace the entire head unit with something somewhat modern.

The 2022 XL 101A did not have copilot 360, so that must be a change.

I had originally ordered the 100A, but because of our height difference, power mirrors seemed like a necessity (we didn't know that we'd upgrade Kate from a base Corolla to the highest spec Mazda CX-5 at the time). I also wanted the rear camera display to be in the console (non-touch screen).

Fast forward after having the truck for 8 months, I never use the power mirrors and the center monitor is so small that I don't think it would bother me to have it in the mirror.

I was never one to use cruise control, but I do use the base non-adaptive one in the 101A quite a bit. But it wouldn't bother me not to have it since Soupie spends 90% of its time on the short 1.6 mile trip to the dump!

The halogen headlights are pretty dim and about like my ancient FJ40 headlights (you, know, with the floor button for high-low). BUT ... even with my dumpy eyesight (see what I did?) they are fine and I spent 3 hours driving at night on back roads and highway without sfatey concerns (not sure what those things were I ran over, probably fallen branches ...). I entertain changing them to PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs (thanks @Frenchy) but haven't done it yet, maybe if the dump starts having evening hours ... =)

Just to clarify, the Co-Pilot 360 is a separate package and was only available on an XL when the 101A Package was also ordered.; not available with 100A. It's the same in 2023.

Ahh, yeah that makes sense. It was a package in my online builder and I think it was like $1.200. Being cheap frugal, I didn't get that since my car driving experience still cast suspicions on the magic of power windows!

But, having driven my wife's fancy-pants car, it does feel modern to have automatic headlights, BLIS, lane control, and all that stuff. I do enjoy driving it (but she won't let me use it for dump runs - sheesh, 32 years of marriage and no dump trust?). =p

Would I change my Ranger, if money was no object?

Nah, it's a wannabe work truck with steelies and it feeds my ego to be a somewhat minimalist truck (I wouldn't want to upgrade too fast from my normal 1972 technology comfort). =D

No tire pressuring, government-spying tech needed with my preferred wheels! Who needs air anyway?
