I know that the company has been around a long time. We bought their caps for a while as a dealer, I'm guessing it was in the 90's. From what I remember, we had no real problems with the caps.

I bought a used Ranch cap for my old Sport Trac. Construction and quality was perfectly fine. They cost less than a Leer or ARE but the trim and windows aren't as smooth so there's your trade-off. You may need a third brake light module (Amazon, $18) to keep the third brake light on the cap from blinking with the turn signal.

I took a look at their web site. Seems decent. But I truly hate any vendor that has you go through all the steps to select and build a product for a quote, only to ask for contact info to receivve a quote. If they can't give me a ballpark price on the site, I'm not interested.

Thank you. That is reassuring.

Thanks for the info, especially on the less smooth trim and windows! Back to shopping for an ARE or Leer.

That's actually pretty much the way it is with most all cap manufacturer's websites. You fill out a form requesting a quote or pick up the phone and call. It is not like in the 1970's where there were limited styles and options for truck caps.
I know on our website, we ask for name, town & state and an email address. Reason for town and state is we only sell retail from our location.... our dealer base is in a tri-state area... so before going into an extensive quote for someone from Texas for instance, knowing that, we can email them a reply letting them know we do not ship retail caps and they would have to pick up in PA and ask if they would still like a quote.

Agree on the “build your own” set-up for my contact info. I did learn some terms for camper shell options & construction.

I’ve been just setting up my tent or putting the tailgate down and sleeping diagonally, so topper talk is new to me.

I tried to buy a Snugtop and requested a quote. The closest dealer to me from Florida is in Oklahoma. I was planning a trip out west and would have detoured to OK to pick it up, but Snugtop would not even grace me with an email reply or a call back. Totally ignored me even after several attempts.

Wow. Part of my responsibility is answering price requests. I always answer because I have had customers from all over buy their caps from us. They can place order over phone, so it just involves one trip to us for the installation when cap is ready. Sometimes it's just that we offered exactly what they wanted and they didn't mind the drive.... or they had family or business out this way anyway.

Yeah. I really liked the style of the side windows with that little bit of a curve up. Looks good on a white Ranger but I guess Sungtop didn’t need or want my business.

I'm not picking only on this brand and seller, this in general for anything internet commerce.
You see, all I want is a 'starting at' price. If I enter the specifics for a product, just tell me prices starting at $1800. And as for locations available, all they need is a ZIP and tell me the nearest seller if available. They don't need my e-mail, phone, and home address to tell me the nearest location is 250 miles away.
In this case, I would want a ballpark figure to compare to other brands such as Lear and ARE. If this brand is 25% cheaper I'd give them a look, if not I'd stick to brands I've seen.
