Last week took the wife and kids on a trail for the first time. Nothing too extreme, really didn't even need 4wd. Just nice to get out and get a feel for the truck. Really impressed and can't wait to hit some tougher trails.

We went to Castle Hot Springs Rd. It's a pretty little drive and not too long. Enter on Castle Hot Springs Rd in Morristown. You end up coming out past Lake Pleasant. The only downside is there is a lot of private property so can't really venture off the main road.

Now I gotta go Google-earth it and see the area.
Thanks for the heads up!
Might take a ride tomorrow if we have time between chores :)

Chris there's a lot of nice easy roads/trails all around Lake Pleasant. When I had my Tacoma we went though there and hit some of them. Ran into a pack of wild donkeys while out there which was pretty cool.

Yeah I have to work my wife up to Four Peaks. Hoping to get my sister out here with her Bronco and doing it.

We ran into a pack of Donkeys right at the end of the trail!

Once you get the feel for it you should go up to Sedona. There's some nice off road trail there from easy to hard and plenty of places have maps so you won't get on one that's over your head. I added the pictures to my last post of the donkeys. It was a shock coming around the corner and they were just standing there. lol

I'm really wanting to do Sedona. Definitely going to be on my list. We did the hummer tours there few years ago and that was intense!

But I will be slowly working the wife into this, baby steps. Lol.

Another nice easy one is up in Flagstaff it called End Of The World. Nothing hard at all and when you get to the top the views are awesome.

Directions:

Take Historic Route 66 west out of Flagstaff, then turn left on Woody Mountain Road. Follow this road, which turns to dirt, for about 23 miles. Do not take any side roads until you can see the break in the trees to your right. This is the End of the World. Choose any of the pull-offs here to enjoy the view.

There's a lot of other nice easy roads off the main one so on your way down you can venture out on them too. We did a few of them and they were mostly fire roads so a nice easy drive. There are free range cows there so be careful they don't end up in the road like what happened to @Frenchy here.

We go up to Flagstaff every summer for a week to get out of the heat down here. There was only one other person at the top when we went there and if you have a portable hammock bring it. I think it was the first opening on the right there's two trees close enough to string one up. Nice place to take a siesta and enjoy the view.

This guy looked hungry. :surprised:

We are going to make it a yearly thing now that we have a vehicle we can explore in. And I will make sure I bring a hammock. Have to roshambo the wife and kids for it.

Those are awesome pics!

Took the truck out this weekend on Hermit Pass just outside Westcliffe, CO.

https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/3938-hermit-pass.html

Truck still amazes me. Got it on two wheels going up a 6 degree incline without the rear locked and it was able to apply traction perfectly. Incredible traction control system on this truck.

What impressed me most is that I never once hit a rock on any skid plates, sliders, or underbody bits. This truck is just the right size for off roading on these tight trails.

Trail control is something I wouldn’t want to do without anymore. Having it lock the throttle at a steady state when you are bouncing over boulders makes for a greatly improved off road experience. No more jerky throttle from your foot bouncing around.
