I am sure that it was the Lubeguard Ultra Platinum ATF additive that did the trick. My transmission has always acted up more in the summer, although this last winter I fired it up and started down the street and the shifts took up to 6-10 seconds to complete! I could actually hear the valve body shift solenoids transition. Not good!

I didn't drive it very much at all after that episode.

My plan going forward is to change the ATF at 30K & 40K. At 50K I will be swapping out the pan if the transmission is still running fine. Each time I will add Lubeguard.

If the transmission fails sometime in between, I will have it repaired under warranty and then sell the truck.
I believe it's the detergents in Lubeguard that's helping probably more than the friction modifiers that are in Lubeguard platinum. I've been using Lubeguard red for about 9 months and it's cleared up the terrible 3-4 shift hangup I used to have on the first shift of the day. It's not perfect though, so I've got a handful of sonax parts to go into the valve body along with a PPE pan when I have the time. Apparently the solenoid clips weaken and allow the valves to move and the main pressure spool can have some wear that these pieces are supposed to help address. Hopefully that sorts out the transmission.

Then all I need to do is figure out why I can't get an EGR sensor to last more than 6 months, find out whats making a clunk starting and stopping, bleed the brakes to try and make them less inconsistent...
If the car market wasn't so nuts, I would have sold 2 years ago...

Excellent thinking, this way you're sure to get your $30 check when the settlement goes through
I'm not counting on class action...more like the hammer of gov ordering Ford to fork it over direct to owners...but might as well buy lotto tickets...

They recommend different viscosities for different regions. I would just put 5w30 if you live in the southern states of USA. But northern colder regions might want to run 0w20.
The 0w-20 recommendation was for ALL of the USA and Canada. There was no mention of regions, or temperatures. The rest of the world was 5w30.

Take a real close look at Europe and you will see that Italy is as far north as the USA Canadian Border... and extends down to Virginia. All of Europe short of the Mediterranean Coast line is much colder than most of populous areas of the USA.

Cairo is basically on the same latitude as Tallahassee or Jacksonville, Florida. The same for Israel and North Carolina, Paris with Northern Maine, Most of Germany is north of Nova Scotia and Northern Canada just south of Hudson Bay! Same for the UK which shares a latitude with the center of the Hudson Bay.

The US is a southern country. I don't think 0-20 is recommended anywhere in Europe.

Your reasoning is sound, but that is not what the US / Canadian manual sections state. hence my concern. I think the way you do. And it is against what the manufacturer's recommendation.

I see your point. I don’t know what their reasoning is in this particular situation but that is typically the factor as to why different regions have different recommendations.

Well, the other day, i drove around all morning with the trailer getting pallets of 4x2s, getting cement, all kinds of trailer stuff for about 60 miles, in tow haul mode. Picked up cement in the truck tow haul mode, the drove 40 miles home empty truck on regular drive, then hit city limits fought traffic in sport mode. All 3 modes in 1 day! Poor turbo got a workout in 100 degree heat.
Am i prematurely wearing out my transmission?? It runs and feels just fine. 37k. 2022 xlt fx2. Oh, and used my lockers today for about 30 seconds.

On 87 octane fuel.

I agree with you - excellent logical assumption....

I have given up trying to understand what drives governments and corporates on a macro level. I just know they make irrational decisions... unless they are psychopaths or sociopaths, which is a very distinct possibility.
