Ok....I need some help here.

I have a 2019 STX. 25k miles on it. I am on cabin filter #4.

F#*$&#^ mice keep building a nest on top of the filter and chewing the filter up.

I have mice traps in the garage, probably killed 20 mice this winter.

How are they getting to the cabin filter??? Anyone know the air system well enough to point me in the right direction? I need to locate the entry point they are using to see if I can screen or block somehow.

This year has been awful for mice and roof rats in CA and AZ. Not only did my daughter battle this in her AZ home , so did we at our CA place. More importantly many of my clients have had repeat engine failures from rats chewing wires. One client has had two separate incidents in one week ! What we discovered was the rat never left !! Those mice might still be living in the truck and are going for a ride with you. Electronic or snap traps will work outside the vehicle. Here is the plan...
1) Given 20 mice in your garage so far, you will need to seal any opening larger than a dime in the structure, make sure there is good weatherstripping under and around the garage door. Check all roof vents and screen them.

2) I just took a flashlight under my Ranger and see several ways mice could climb into the engine compartment. Not thinking you will be able to seal the vehicle underneath. So once the garage is sealed, the next step is to draw out kill the mice trapped inside. I would set traps and poison bait stations all around the truck.

3) Rats and mice hate copper wool and peppermint. So if you attempt to seal off holes in the frame, go to a home improvement store and get bulk copper wool. Obviously be careful not to put copper wool around electrical areas. Steel wool works in homes and dry climates, where you live, use copper wool which doesn’t rust as bad. Then take off the glove box as you already do when you change the air filter and wipe peppermint oil on the housing around it. It will smell nicer than mouse urine and make the filter area not appealing for future nests.

Good luck and be thankful no wires have been chewed.

I have used this combo for 3 years and haven't had a mouse problem since. I have a big field across the street and used to get mice Constantly, even in my f150. NONE since. Gpa gus peppermint spray and sachets. Fine mist on the inner and outer thresholds of garage doors, around the perimeter of the truck on the concrete floor and these ultrasonic rodent repellents around the garage. Think i bought 4 of these packs. 6 in the 2 car garage spaced in receptacles, 2 in my man cave/office, 1 in the minibarn (has electricity) and the rest in my wood shop. NO MICE, NO DROPPINGS. The snap traps and glue traps I put out in October still have the peanut butter on them. Even see fewer bugs.

EDIT. The one mouse I had in my f150 was eating malt balls I put plastic on all the floor boards didn't want a flipped over glue trap on my interior) and a small glue trap with peanut butter setting in each floorboard. Caught it the next day. I continued on doing this for a few days to be sure it was alone.

Thankfully have never had a problem with my vehicles, mowers or tractor. But when I first built this house four years ago the 14 acres was part of a 120 acre cow pasture. It was overrun with voles and field mice. I built my metal building first and later the house and soon after got a barn cat. He is well fed, pampered and loved (I don’t even like cats) as he does his job very well. I am reconfiguring my shop and I think I will spray the peppermint on the inside and outside perimeters for added protection.
Good luck to you

I had mice in my house & garage a few yrs ago. I bought those ultrasonic rodent repellents. Did not have an issue for yrs. This yr, I only had some in the house.
