Anybody here using N-Fab RKR Rails or their EPYX Step System on their Ranger?

I'm wanting some sort of rocker covers that tuck up tight to the truck, not as steps, but to simply protect the rockers, but additionally hide the frame of the truck some what as viewed from the side of the truck at a distance.

If I can't find anything commercially available I'll fab up something myself.

I like the look of the EPYX Step System... but without the steps.

Thanks.... Here are some photo's the N-Fab components disucssed above.

I looked really closely at the RKRs but decided they didn’t give quite enough protection from stones and debris off the front tires, so that’s what I went with the Go Rhino DSS.

Update:

I ended up ordering Shrockworks Rock Sliders.... N-Fab doesn't make a slider for a SuperCab, and they're not alone either. It seems a number of these fabricators aren't making them for SuperCab's?

Which is kind of crazy if you think about it... SuperCab's and SuperCrew's have the same wheelbase. Only difference is where the mounting brackets and steps weld on.

Plus... N-Fab's EPYX System bolts to the floor of the cab.. Shrockworks bolt's to the frame. The difference in strength and protection is night and day.

Here's some photo's of the Shrockworks Sliders...

Those look really good John. :like: Those are the ones I would've bought if mine didn't already have the factory ones on there. I was tempted to get in on the group buy for these but I've been spending way to much lately lol. I already have a "Ranger wish list" for my next truck and these are on there.

I just received the N-fab rkr’s in the mail with bolt on steps. I will post pics as soon as I get a chance to install them. I plan on installing Gatorback Mud Flaps as well which I also just received.

Ok, after some delay. Here are rkr rails with drop down steps installed. I also installed my gator back mud flaps on the same day.

I've looked at these in the past. How easy is it to attach/detach the actual steps?

I bought these for the very same reason. To be able to remove them if necessary. After installing them I’d say it’s not something I would want to do all the time but it’s also not terrible. The biggest problem is getting access it the inside part of the step where the nut is. There is little room in there and it’s a little difficult to do if your squatting or sitting in front of the step. It’s doable if you need to take them off.

Epyx. I cant say how much protection from rocks, its a grocery getter, but they look nice and are less expensive than some others. When it rains I can here the water hitting them when going through puddles even with the mud flaps. If you are a bigger guy I would avoid them they have a little flex to them when you step on them. I'm only 165lbs so its not an issue for me but I can see them feeling squishy for someone over 200lbs. Took forever to get as well but I bought them right after the Ranger release so stock may be better now. Installed in under 30 minutes.
