Earlier in the week was in MI and ran across an 80s Dodge Omni.

Omni was in incredible shape.

Love seeing the old metal out on the road...
lol There was a Pacer there but it just wasn't worth the effort to take my phone out and get a picture of it. But it is fun (and sad to see how cheap things have got) looking at how things were really made back then compared to today. With real thick metals and metal knobs and hvac controls instead of all this cheap plastic we now have. Even the detail in some of the trunks back then were really nice with plush leather padding. It's sad when you look at the prices we now have and how much has been stripped out.

Thanks for these great photos Dave. in the town square up here at the cottage, they have summer Cruise Nights on the Friday nights of long weekends. I missed the last one but will get to the early August and Labour Day shows - you can tell when these shows are happening by the number of classic cars on the highway and in town that day. The participants and the enthusiasts all seem to out cruising at about the same time. And forget about going to the coin-op car wash, unless you like waiting in line.

Fingerprints and Stainless Steel cars - Ugh!

The company where I had my first job out of college had six Delorean cars (one was all mine for a while) and we would often arrange to have them on display in shopping malls to attract attention so we could talk about our product and give out samples. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE just had to touch them. We could barely keep up with the fingerprints. We all carried a bottle of Windex and several rolls of paper towels.

That would've been a really cool first job! Back then those DeLoreans were really an eye catcher as there wasn't anything else like them around. It's to bad John DeLorean ran it into bankruptcy.

Yeah, I never understood why people have to touch cars at car shows? Now I didn't see this yesterday but at every single Mecum Action we constantly see people touching high dollar cars and leaving fingerprints allover them. Some are now adding signs to their cars "Please do not touch" which they shouldn't have to. But we all know common sense isn't to common anymore.

They would touch them as we were cleaning them!

I got tired of that quickly and suggested we place our cars at the entrances to the hottest clubs in the city. The cars were getting a lot of attention because they were so unique, and it was easy to get on local radio shows to talk about the cars and tell people where they could see them next. The clubs loved it and treated us well. They would block off areas for us to park, often on the sidewalk, give us reserved seating in the club, comp our drinks - at 21, I was pretty cool with all that. ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but that looked like a 69 Camaro RS/SS. It reminded me of this movie car.

Nope that is a 67 RS/SS. THE 69 RS package had slotted headlight covers.

I hope the people that own that AMC keep it somewhere safe or those 10-spoke Vector wheels are gonna disappear for someone's General Lee restoration.

I remember AMC’s Brampton Assembly Plant as a kid. So, which was the better of their two “muscle cars” the SC/Rambler or the AMC Javelin? Vote now.

When I was young a friend bought a Javelin with a 390 in it. That was a fun car. Another friend had a Gremlin and that was an embarrassment . Another friend with rich parents was given a new 1970 Dodge Challenger 440 six pack for graduation and that was the fastest car in the neighborhood. He boasted it would do 160 mph but we could only get it up to 146 with 4 of us riding in it. Really luck to have survived the 70s.

Javlin has my vote though I wouldn't pass on a Scrambler.

I think they are fairly safe if he lives in the area we were in.

Speaking of AMCs... my Uncle had a hot-rodded Hornet when I was probably 10 or so. Big and littles on Cragers giving it the right rake, chromatic tape pinstripe and on the grill, white Starsky and Hutch stripe on the red paint. Only had a 6 cylinder in it but had head work done, header, intake and bigger carb. Was fun to get a ride in.

Not sure how I feel about them really… there’s 3 of them in the neighborhood (production model ones, this one seems special or something.) they look like dented toaster ovens….
But the technology involved seems cool… but….
:::fart noise:::

Also the Rivian is just a fart noise too…

so much potential…. Just to end up being mediocre.?
Kids seem to like them.

Kids like them because they don't know any better. They also like licking ice off a metal pole in the winter until their tongue gets stuck to it. ?

Most of these are selling for far north of $100K and from the little I've read are having problems. Take this one who picked his up and drove only 35 miles from the dealer to use a super charger. While charging coolant started pouring out from underneath the truck. Tesla service told him they don't cover coolant leaks under warranty. They eventually sent a tow truck after he had some words with them. They even have a lot of special wording built into their warranty about pff roading. Some is understandable but "driving on uneven roads voids the warranty" is another crazy one. For $100K these should have a 10 year bumper to bumper I mean frunk to frunk warranty. You're right they are total.....???

Full disclosure, I don’t like them at all.

Sure, they have all kinds of tech but you can cram all kinds of tech into any vehicle, EV or ICE. And kids like them but who is the buyer for these? Is it “truck guys” who need a truck for truck stuff or is it tech fanboys and Elon worshippers?

Besides being butt ugly it's way to big. The inside has nothing special and to shift you have to push a button over your head. o_O I think Tesla is like Toyota and their Tacoma where they have a cult following and can do no wrong.
