Hi,

I can't trace which fuse would be responsible for this but after wading in some deep water my trailer is not being recognized by my Ranger Wildtrac 2017 with 3.2 Tdi. I changed the 20 amp trailer tow connector as I could not tell if it was blown I also inspected the 40 amp trailer module fuse and visually it looks fine. The break controller recognizes a trailer is connected but otherwise all trailer lights don't work and car doesn't say trailer connected when I plug in the trailer. Turning on the turn signal results in fast ticking on the indicator.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Trailer wasn't involved in water crossing and indicator blinking fast even with no trailer connected

Water, debris, or corrosion in connector?

That's a good idea, could be the connector is flooded. I'll disassemble it and see how it looks

Opened up the connector and it was flooded, drained it and sprayed some water displacement oil in there and drained that too. Still facing the same problem though

Not sure if your model is the same as the US models for fuses.

From my manual.

Engine Compartment Fuse Box:

#5 - Trailer Park Lamp Relay
#34 - Trailer Reverse Lamp
#38 - Trailer Right-Hand Turn and Stop Lamp Relay (Not Used / Uses #63)
#39 - Trailer Left-Hand Turn and Stop Lamp Relay (Not Used / Uses #56)
#40 - Trailer Park Lamp Relay (Not Used / Uses #5)

Power Distribution Box:

#56 - Trailer Left Hand Turn And Stop
#63 - Trailer Right Hand Turn and Stop
#64 - Trailer Brakes
#71 - Trailer Park Lamps
#73 - Trailer Module
#87 - Trailer Module

The controller I'm assuming recognized a trailer connected since it ties into the 3rd brake light.

Your fuse layout may be different but there are quite a lot of fuses / relays associated with the trailer in the manual.

Thanks, does the US version ship with break controller built in? Our rangers don't even come with the trailer control module, had to buy that and break controller separately from the car

Found out it was the control module, local dealer is useless can't trace the part number, can't find it listed for sale online. It's a small box with 18 pins, was completely flooded and corroded.
