How much lift up front is reasonable? Is 3" the limit?

I'm up 2" over stock up front but I'd like to go a little more.
Is 3" too much for the geometry? The Fox 2.0 says 2-3"
It puts a strain on ball joints etc. I installed new upper control arms with mine, they are slightly oversized compared to oem, very stout and have a grease fitting. The over sized portion puts the ball joints back to its neutral stock angle and they don't wear out as fast.

I put these on early during covid when there wasn't a big amount of mfgrs making them. I would do these again, although I've not researched any brands since I bought these BDS.

im at 2.5 on mine in the front and its working well. i dont want anymore than that. I do want a taller tire- but ive got room for them now. at 2.5 everything aligned nicely and within fords numbers. truck drives straight, no steering wheel flopping around or wobbly feelings. Ive been up to 90 mph with it and it felt planted, i dont need to go faster normally im a right lane kinda guy. im sure 2.5 is adding some extra stress on a few things but its not an unsafe or crazy amount. however, i do expect some of the front end parts to wear out at say 60k or 80k instead of 100k. the nature of the beast. Im not sure where i read it but up to 33 inch tires on the 5g is a good point where you are not getting too crazy or asking for major problems with parts not designed for whats being done to them. may have been from Dana Spicer guy in ref to the front axle and diff.
over 33 inch tires and you get into a bag of cats like expecting broken parts, early wear, having to replace stock with up graded and so on.
